Our February meeting will be on Tuesday, February 15th from 2:30-4 via Zoom. This meeting will be our review and comment gathering session for the newest version of the 20xx Accounting Procedure which can be found on the COPAS website in the “Minutes, Presentations, & Drafts\Draft Publications” folder. Please review and be prepared to have an in-depth discussion so we can gather our PASHionate comments to send to the drafting committee by February 18, 2022. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Chris Pry at cpry@pooleaudit.com or Ruth Strange at ruth@pooleaudit.com. Also, please invite any coworkers or any one you know that might want to join our Committee and PASH.

COPAS Spring 2022 Planning Committee

Our event will be held the week of April 25, 2022, at the San Luis Resort, Spa and Conference Center in Galveston, Texas.
Our next planning meeting will be on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 6pm to discuss the next steps. If you are not on the volunteer list and want to participate, please let me know so we can include you in the zoom meeting invites this month.
Keep brainstorming, we still need help in all areas! We have our committee chairs in place, and they would love your help assisting during the event in 2022. If you would like to participate, but aren’t sure where, we can share details on the various committee opportunities.

There are a limited number of rooms available at $189 per night plus tax at the San Luis Resort, Spa and Conference Center in Galveston, TX. All rooms face the ocean, resort fees have been waived and includes free self-parking. Please contact the hotel directly at (866) 238-4218. Book by Monday, March 21, 2022, request COPAS rate (Discount code – COPAS22). Rates available from 4/24 to 4/30. If rooms available, you may ask them for our conference rate for up to 3 days before and/or 3 days after event. If you have any issues with reserving your room, please let Jennifer know immediately and she will contact the hotel to resolve the issue.

This committee meeting will continue to focus on Education Day speakers and the Scholarship program. Please email Jennifer (pashjennifer@yahoo.com) if you plan to participate in this meeting and want the paperwork before the meeting. Agendas will only be sent to those that respond prior to the meeting day above or attended the last meeting.
Ethics course – Course will be offered via Zoom on WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2022, from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Here is the link for registration for the Ethics Course.
Scholarships - The committee will finalize the Scholarship program for April 2022.
Education – Education Day is set for Thursday. May 26, 2022. OMNI – Galleria (same as May 2019). Look for registration to be available in late March or early April. If there is a speaker you heard at a conference you attended and think others would enjoy the topic, please send the topic and the speaker contact information to Jennifer (pashjennifer@yahoo.com). Jennifer will review the topic/speaker with the committee and contact them if a slot is available.

Event & Speaker Bio –
Megan Hays, Managing Director with Kimmeridge Energy will be presenting on ESG. Given the increasing importance that all stakeholders are placing on ESG strategies, metrics, disclosures and overall reporting, we feel this is a very timely and important topic. Megan has a very impressive background and has extensive experience with ESG so I hope you can join us.
Where: Virtually via Adobe Connect. A link will be provided when it becomes available.
When: 12:00pm-1:00pm MST on Friday, February 18th.
CPE: We expect this event to qualify for one (1) hour of CPE credit.
Megan’s Bio:
Megan is Managing Director at Kimmeridge Energy. Megan has 15 years of investor relations, strategic communications, M&A, capital markets and ESG experience within publicly and privately held E&P companies. Prior to Kimmeridge, Megan served as the vice president of investor relations at Cimarex Energy Co., where she helped the company navigate its $19 billion merger with Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation and led ESG engagement and reporting efforts. Previously, she was vice president of investor relations and public affairs at Concho Resources Inc., where she led investor relations and media affairs in addition to developing and driving the company’s ESG strategy and reporting, which included the publication of the company’s Climate-Risk (TCFD) report and Sustainability report. During Megan’s tenure at Concho, she supported the company’s capital markets and A&D/M&A activities, including Concho's $9.5 billion acquisition of RSP Permian in 2018 and Concho's ultimate sale to ConocoPhillips for $10 billion in January 2021. Concho’s investor relations program was recognized by Institutional Investor (“Best IR Professional” in 2019 and “Best IR Team” in 2020).
Prior to her roles at Cimarex and Concho, Mrs. Hays began her career leading investor relations and corporate communications at Approach Resources Inc.
Mrs. Hays holds Executive Education for Sustainability Leadership from Harvard University and a B.A. in Political Science (International Relations) from Texas Christian University (TCU). Mrs. Hays currently serves on the advisory board for TCU’s Energy Institute at the Neeley School of Business.

The Revenue Committee will hold its monthly meeting, via Zoom, on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 2 PM. We will welcome Mr. Nicholas Dunn to speak on the topic of Severance Tax and current audit issues in Texas.
Nicholas Dunn is a Senior Manager at Ryan LLC with 10 years of State and Local consulting experience. Nicholas is a multi-jurisdictional expert in severance tax, state royalties, and private royalties. While specializing in upstream oil & gas, Nicholas has helped develop new service lines and further jurisdictional expertise at Ryan. Nicholas currently assists taxpayers in navigating the complex world of audits, reverse audits, incentive optimization, and tax planning.
