Buffie Campbell is a licensed attorney in Texas and North Dakota and a Certified Professional Landman (CPL), specializing in Oil & Gas and Real Estate with a focus on estate planning, title, and contract law. As Mineral & Asset Management Senior Manager, she brings deep experience in process implementation for energy clients, including bank setup, accounting controls, and GIS integration. Buffie has managed assets for trusts, estates, foundations, and charitable organizations with mineral and real property interests nationwide.

Presentation Overview:
Basic Oil & Gas Measurement Practices for Revenue Audits – Best Practices
This presentation will discuss the best practices for conducting a revenue audit of oil and gas metering and measuring equipment. We will review documentation required to conduct the audit including different agreements and contracts; industry standards and equipment maintenance requirements; governmental / regulatory reporting requirements; customer concerns and the challenges it presents.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this presentation, you will understand:
1. The documents required to conduct a revenue audit.
2. The steps to conduct an audit of the measuring equipment & meters used in the oil & gas industry.
3. Regulatory and third-party considerations: dependability of meter readings; equipment maintenance & calibration schedules; and the relationship between metering and production allocations.
4. Key challenges facing Production and Revenue Accountants including production tracking allocations and revenue distribution.
About the speaker:
Sanjiv Jain has more than 40 years of oil and gas industry experience and currently works as a Consultant / President of his own company “Jain and Associates” providing revenue assurance / due diligence services as well as involved in volunteer work for muscular dystrophy and other organizations. To stay connected, he is a member of COPAS and Institute of Internal Auditor (IIA).
Sanjiv started his career as an analyst working for Hudson’s Bay Oil and Gas (major Oil and Gas producer) in Fox Creek Alberta Canada and moved around to other gas plants in Canada. His company was taken over by Dome Petroleum and then by Amoco and finally by BP.
After working in the field for many years, he was brought into the head office of AMOCO Canada to set up their revenue audit section within the audit department. He worked as a revenue auditor and then as a revenue specialist recovering millions of dollars for his company. His audit experience includes audits of production in Canada, UK North Sea, Dutch North Sea, Australia, Indonesia and South America to name few countries.
Sanjiv has a BA Economics and has finished various Math and Statistics courses from Queens University in Canada. While working as a volunteer for Neighbor Hood Tax centers he also passed intermediate level IRS tax certification program. Additionally, he will be the Chair of PASH Revenue Committee this year (2025 – 2026).
