Mr. Rich Welsh will be joining us to share his passion of flying! Rich started flying when he was high school. He spent 8 years in the Air Force, reaching the rank of Captain, with 5 years in the F101B Voodoo, Supersonic Interceptor.
Rich joined the CAF (Commemorative Air Force) in 1980 and has flown the Museums' WWII Vultee BT-13A trainer, plus owns a Mooney Super 21 aircraft.
Rich has flown in several airshows including "Wings Over Houston". He has served on the Airshow staff for over 29 years and currently serves on the Board of Directors.
Rich has put together a presentation on WWII aviation history called "America Trains For War" that is presented to youth groups as well as Veterans organizations.

A quick reminder that voting representatives in committee meetings must be “members in good standing” a part of which means that you are current with your dues.
Members with unpaid dues at the September meetings will be unable to vote.

Come join the Revenue Committee in kicking off the new year! The committee will meet on September 14th, at 3:00 PM.
Angela Boardman and Lawrence Hackney will be presenting on the topics "An Overview of E&P Revenue Accounting" and "Software Accountants Should Know About – Beyond Excel Revenue Accounting".
Angela is married to Dale, a proud mother of Dale and Darcy and pups Snazz and Luna. She is an expatriate, world traveler and immigrant to the USA. She currently serves as Director and Global Process Owner of Revenue for Hess Corporation in Houston. Originally from Aberdeen in Scotland, where she graduated from Robert Gordon University with a Business Degree before beginning her career with accountancy firm Ernst & Young and becoming ACCA qualified. She moved into the energy sector with increasingly senior Finance roles with Weatherford and Amec Engineering which included working in Aberdeen, London, Norway, Denmark, Brazil, Houston, and Calgary.
Lawrence's career in industry began with Deloitte (Touche Ross) as a financial auditor, then Internal Audit with Occidental Petroleum and finally Internal Audit, Controller and Operations Manager for BFI. In 1995, Lawrence returned to Houston from New York to begin his independent consulting practice where he has served his clients for 25 years.

To get the most out of your membership, you need to participate! Join a committee, participate in document re-writes, submit comments, or attend a national meeting. The Education committee will hold its first meeting of the year on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, via Zoom 7pm. This committee meeting will focus on the scholarship program and Education Day speakers for Education Day 2024.

The Joint Interest and Audit Committees will be having a joint meeting on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the Hilton-Houston North from 3 to 4 PM.

Welcome to the 2023-2024 PASH year! We look forward to seeing returning members and meeting new members.
In September, we will be joined by the PASH Audit committee. Our presentation will be on Emerging Issues. The presentation will cover examples and discussion of charging Environmental Project Overhead as allowed by MFI – 58 COPAS 2022 Model Form Accounting Procedure Interpretation. We will also review Emerging Issues topics to be presented in the COPAS 2023 Fall Meeting in Colorado Springs, CO. This will give PASH members the opportunity to form opinions for more robust conversation at the fall meeting.

With the COPAS National meeting happening the following week, we will have a breakout session at the end of the meeting to vote on items that will be discussed at the COPAS meeting. We will also be reviewing the Audit Committee Charter, once complete it will be submitted to the Board for approval.

PASH will be hosting Mike Cougevan as our guest speaker. He will be presenting "After COVID-19: Musings of a COPAS Veteran".
Mike started his upstream oil and gas career at Conoco Inc, where he worked for 13 years in various positions of responsibility, including financial analysis, internal reviews, joint interest accounting, negotiation of agreements, and settlements of joint interest and revenue disputes. Mike joined Martindale Consultants, Inc. in 1994 and is currently a Vice President, focusing on complex audits, agreement negotiations, litigation support, and expert witness testimony.
Mike is considered a prominent authority for Gulf of Mexico operations and has performed international audits in Australia, Barbados, Brazil, and Guyana.
An active COPAS member for almost 36 years, Mike served as Chair of the COPAS Audit Committee and Chair of the COPAS Emerging Issues Subcommittee as well as six years on the COPAS Board of Directors, serving as President in 2012.
Mike was a member of teams that drafted approximately 20 COPAS publications. In 2009, Mike developed the ongoing “Knowing Your COPAS Documents” lecture and webinar series explaining the content and intent of various COPAS publications and has created 13 sessions of that series. Mike received the 2004 COPAS Eagle Award for outstanding service to COPAS and in 2022 was inducted into the COPAS Ring of Honor.
