First Speaker: 8:30 AM

Second Speaker: 9:30 AM

Please make sure to register if you plan to join us for the in-person breakfast and presentations this month.

First Speaker

Zack Warren

Title - O&G Data Analytics for Nerds like Engineers (and Accountants)

AbstractO&G data analytics has a long history, but a highly mixed track record. This presentation will talk about areas of success (and failures) from the world of petroleum engineering, then dig into some trends that we see in the E&P accounting space. This presentation will include market share data on E&P ERP's, frameworks on how to think about using technology in compliance-oriented disciplines, and some ideas to take home for using data analytics to help your company operate better.

About the speaker - Zack Warren is a data analytics leader and reservoir engineer with over 20 years of experience. In 2021, he founded Velocity Insight to be a data management/analytics consulting firm focused on upstream oil and gas. Most of his career has been with E&P companies, including ExxonMobil, NSAI, Samson Resources, Resolute, and Great Western Petroleum. Zack is a professional engineer in Texas and Colorado, and long-time volunteer with the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers. As the son of a CPA, he grew up swearing he wouldn't go into accounting. Now he spends much of his time wrestling with general ledgers, so how's that for irony?

CPE - 1 hour CPE credit

Second Speaker

Jerry Haney

Allocation Measurement 101: What Accountants Need for a Clean Month‑End Close

Abstract: Learn how production allocation directly impacts your month end close in this practical, accounting focused presentation. We’ll follow the flow of volumes from the wellhead through meters and tanks, into allocation calculations, and finally into the revenue, royalty, and JIB numbers on your books. Along the way, you’ll see how flow diagrams, pro‑rata allocations, and tank production tie to purchaser statements, data cut‑offs, variance analysis, and prior‑period adjustments, giving you a clearer audit trail and fewer surprises at close.

About the Speaker: Jerry Haney, M.B.A., is a Principal Consultant with Stonebridge Consulting. With over 20 years of industry experience, he is a seasoned expert in upstream oil and gas production accounting and measurement. He has led numerous projects focused on production allocation design, measurement validation, and process optimization across a wide range of shale and conventional assets. Jerry is a frequent instructor and conference presenter, known for translating complex technical and measurement concepts into clear, actionable insights for Accounting and Finance professionals. His work has helped operators strengthen their month‑end close, reduce prior‑period adjustments, and build more reliable, audit‑ready allocation processes.
