We are excited to announce that Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF) has been awarded the 2023 Excellence in Financial Literacy Education (EIFLE) Award from the Institute for Financial Literacy.

The award acknowledges PATF’s financial education curriculum, Cents and Sensibility: A Guide to Money Management and the Educator Companion Manual. Cents and Sensibility addresses the financial education needs of people with disabilities, while the Educator Companion Manual is a complimentary resource for anyone taking on an educator’s role with financial education.

“We are honored to receive this award recognizing our advocacy for greater access to financial education for people with disabilities,” said PATF’s CEO Ben Laudermilch. “This curriculum is comprehensive, fully accessible, and can help close the knowledge gap when it comes to your personal finances and financial future.”

Why Informed Consent Matters When Using Remote Supports

Everyone has a right to privacy, including people with disabilities who may want remote supports in their home to increase their independence, health, and safety.

But certain kinds of remote supports may compromise a person’s privacy, so it is crucial that people understand how their privacy will be affected if they consent to remote supports.

Such understanding can only be assured if individuals give full, informed consent for the use of remote supports to monitor their actions in their home or community.

Full, informed consent is a process in which a service provider gives an individual a full explanation about the remote supports that are proposed for their home or community.

PATF's Program Specialist Receives Certification in Digital Advertising and

Social Media

Mary Kate, a young white woman, has long brown hair, smiling, wearing a sleeveless black and white shirt, standing in front of a brown background.

Please join us in congratulating PATF's Program Specialist & Office Manager Mary Kate Cassidy!

As part of her graduate studies in digital marketing at Temple University’s Fox School of Business, she had the opportunity to become certified in digital advertising and social media through HubSpot.

"During the Digital Advertising certification course, I learned the ins and outs of creating a customer-centric advertising strategy. My Social Media certification focused on topics such as social monitoring, content strategy, social engagement, and creating social media policies," Mary Kate said.

She hopes to use her knowledge from these courses in PATF’s digital marketing efforts. That's great news, Mary Kate!
