But that's not all – 2023 marks a momentous occasion for Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF), as we celebrate our 25th anniversary!

Smart Home Technology

At Home with Alexa

Alexa, a white woman, wears a yellow shirt. Susan, white woman, wears a white shirt, black sweater.

As part of our Smart Homes Made Simple program, we're continuing to talk with people with disabilities who use smart home devices so they can live more independently.

In this new video, Alexa shows us around her home and demonstrates how she uses smart home technology. Alexa talks with Susan Tachau, PATF's Chief Innovation Officer, about her devices.

Alexa controls many of her smart devices with the Alexa app on her phone, as well as using voice commands to raise and lower blinds, open and close the front door, and turn the lights or fan on and off.

Alexa lives in Cumberland County and works for the ARC of Pennsylvania as the Social Media Manager.

Big Ideas for Teaching Financial Education

Monday, June 26, 2023

2:00 p.m.

Please join RAISE and PATF for an informative webinar for PATF’s first-ever Family Guide.

Money is never easy to talk about but introducing money concepts to our children can be intimidating. At what age do you start? Allowance or not? Need or want?

We will cover how the Family Guide provides easy-to-digest and relatable financial education strategies and tips from parents and families of children with disabilities to parents and families of children with disabilities.

The webinar will focus on the big ideas for introducing financial education, anecdotes on what worked (and what didn’t), and provide resources for families.

ASL interpretation & Spanish interpretation will be offered!
