Happy Holidays From PATH Intl.
Standard Budget_ Region 6_ 2013 equine of the year PATH Intl. wishes everyone happy holidays!

This will be the last PATH Intl. eNews for the year; hard to believe that the next one will be in January 2018!

The PATH Intl. office will be closed Friday, December 22, and Monday, December 25.
2018 PATH Intl. Standards for Certification and Accreditation
Effective January 2, 2018, PATH Intl. will be releasing the most up-to-date edition of the PATH Intl. Standards for Certification and Accreditation, which will completely replace the previous year's manual. Changes are noted on the first page of the standards manual.

The Field Test Standards (FTS) from the 2016 edition were voted on electronically in 2017 and FTS 1 through 4 passed and are incorporated into the 2018 edition. Other edits were made for consistency, renumbering and better understanding of content. As of January 2, 2018, all PATH Intl. candidates for certification and/or accreditation will be required to comply with the most up-to-date edition and changes. Please note there may be a delay in applications being updated and reflecting the new edition.

Members will be able to download the manual for free off the PATH Intl. website when it is available. Copies will be available in the online store.
2018 Conference - Stay Tuned
In the association's efforts to reduce costs for the annual conference, PATH Intl. has  tried contracting with different kinds of facilities in which to hold the conference in 2018. At this point, efforts have not been successful and have set us back on our timeline for procuring a location for the conference. We are continuing our efforts and hope to announce a location and dates in January. We appreciate your patience as we explore ways to continue the PATH Intl. tradition of high-level education at the annual conference.
Retired Jockey and PATH Intl. Donor in Feature Article
Jockey Frankie Lovato Jr. Longtime PATH Intl. supporter Frankie Lovato (pictured right) was featured in The Spectrum article "The Life and Times of 'Frankie' Lovato, Jr." by Pete Monaco. PATH Intl. members will know Frankie as the donor of the Equicizer, a perennial favorite at PATH Intl. Conference silent auctions. What they might not know is that Frankie is a retired jockey. Click here to read his story.
Australian Government Report on ASD Services
Melissa Musson, a PATH Intl. Certified Registered Instructor, shared with PATH Intl. the Australia government response to develop a comprehensive autism state plan, with an initial investment of $22 million for immediate actions to support individuals on the autism spectrum in Victoria. This plan will include expanding inclusive sport and recreation opportunities, including horseback riding. Click here to read the report "Partliamentary Inquiry Into Services for People With Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)." Melissa is an active member of AMAZE (formerly Autism Victoria), part of the advisory that helped shape the recommendations in the inquiry. Congratulations, Melissa, on the results of your efforts!

Equine Tips From the PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee
2017 has been an exciting year in equine-assisted activities and therapies and for the PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee. Committee members enjoyed connecting with members through PATH Intl. Community Connections, in-person conferences and social media. As we bid farewell to 2017, committee members share a heartfelt thank you for sharing your experiences, educational needs and questions focused on programing and equine management considerations. To highlight the committee's dedication and passion to promoting equine care, wellness and longevity in the past year, we would like to share the most viewed equine tip of the year from May 2, 2017! Click here to read "Free Range Stabling for Your Horses" by PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee Member Trish Broersma.

As the committee looks ahead to welcome 2018, you can expect to dive into new topics to promote optimum health and wellness of our equine partners and interact with the committee on new platforms. Keep an eye on your PATH Intl. broadcasts to learn about new resources available to members. We can hardly wait!
