2017 PATH Intl. Annual Meeting and Bylaws Vote
Great news! The bylaws vote allowing for electronic voting passed. Now every member will have the opportunity for their voice to be heard on any proposed bylaws change.

During the discussion leading up to the vote, a member asked why the quorum was set at 30 votes. The exact language is: Section 2. Quorum--A quorum for the bylaw amendment vote shall consist of no fewer than 30 votes submitted by eligible voters.

Since total membership is more than 8,000 individuals, 30 votes seems too low. We acknowledged this, recognizing that the quorum number has likely been there since the first bylaws were approved. Therefore, the board will be looking to give this section a refresh and it will likely be voted on the next time there is a bylaws vote.

Andrea Suk The second live webinar in the FREE three-part special education series will also be presented by PATH Intl. Certified Registered Instructor and University of Oklahoma Zarrow Center for Learning Enrichment doctoral scholar Andrea Suk, MSEd. It will focus on connecting with special education teachers and school lessons. Click here to register.

In early 2017, PATH Intl. launched an outreach campaign for special education teachers to heighten awareness of EAAT and the crucial role PATH Intl. Member Centers and Professionals play in the industry. Through education, the objective is to facilitate connections between special education teachers and their local PATH Intl. Centers and Professionals to have them consider EAAT a viable activity for their students.

Toward that end, PATH Intl. is offering a FREE three-part special education webinar series. Topics covered in the live October 16, 2017 webinar included trends, goals, policies and terminology to help facilitate the connection to local schools and special educators. If you were not able to attend the first presentation in the series, you can still access the material! The webinar was recorded and is available in the online store, free of charge.

Common Lameness Conditions Affecting Performance of PATH Intl. Program Horses
By Ashley Phelps, DVM

Lameness is the one of most common reasons for reduced performance in horses. It is not a disease itself, but a clinical sign that can be a result of many conditions. Diagnosis of the problem or problems can be challenging to veterinarians and frustrating to owners. Lameness is most often associated with pain, and therefore must be addressed by your veterinarian. Reminder: New 2018 PATH Intl. Awards Program - Nominations Now Open
The deadline to submit nominations for PATH Intl. awards is earlier than in past years. Nominations for all equestrians, credentialed professionals, volunteers, veterinarians and equines must be submitted by FEBRUARY 19, 2018 . This is to ensure that regional winners are notified in time for the 2018 region conferences. Click here  to read about the changes and to begin the process.
Foundation Directory Online Discount Offered to PATH Intl. Member Centers
Since 2008 PATH Intl. has been able to offer the Foundation Directory Online-Professional Edition to its member centers through a program from the Foundation Center. This program allowed PATH Intl. to have one license that then was accessible by all member centers. The association learned late this summer that this single sign-on program is being discontinued by the Foundation Center, and the association will no longer be able to provide this benefit in its current form as the cost to continue would be well over one million dollars.

PATH Intl. has been extended a 20% discount to the Foundation Directory Online-Professional Edition for its member centers. To get started, log in and go to My Center Membership.
