AHP Equine Industry Survey
American Horse Publications (AHP) launched its fourth Equine Industry Survey, sponsored by Zoetis. Horse owners who live in the United States, are 18 years of age and older, and who currently own or manage at least one horse are invited to complete the survey by April 1, 2018.

The survey, which is hosted every three years, will gauge participation trends and management practices in the U.S. equine industry, identify critical issues facing the equine industry as perceived by those who own or manage horses, and better understand issues pertaining to horse health.

PATH Intl. encourages its members if eligible to participate in this survey to help ensure equine-assisted activities and therapies is represented in the industry.
Driving Certification Program Update
Effective January 1, 2018, the PATH Intl. Driving Certification Subcommittee and Certification Oversight Committee have approved separation of the driving workshop and certification. All driving certification candidates will now be required to have a minimum of 60 days between completion of the driving workshop and certification. The reasons for this decision are rooted in supporting preparation and success of candidates. Due to the nature of therapeutic driving activities, an enormous amount of information must be delivered in the workshop. There continues to be an increase in candidates with minimal experience instructing individuals with disabilities applying to the certification program, and the workshop provides critical information that they have had little or no introduction to. Without adequate time to process and apply the concepts taught in the workshop, candidates have struggled to meet the criteria for certification. This has led to increased instances of resubmission and, as a result, increased expense for candidates. In an effort to support the success of candidates with various backgrounds and reduce financial impact to candidates, the updated program design includes built-in time for candidates to practice application of workshop concepts.

Refer to the updated driving instructor level I certification booklet for information regarding certification program requirements. Please contact Bret Maceyak, Credentialing Supervisor, with any questions about the updated process.
