Equine Tip From the PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee
Sponsored by Adequan, the official equine welfare partner of PATH Intl.
Have you ever wondered about equine welfare across the globe? Some estimate the world horse population likely exceeds 60 million. Challenges faced by these equines are unique to their part of the world and influenced by the environment, the interaction between equines and humans and the human viewpoint of how equines are partnered with, whether in a subsistence manner or more toward service or leisure. Most of the world's equines help to support human survival. This is the case for equines in South Africa, home of Isabel Wolf-Gillespie, a member of the PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee. Isabel is on a mission to change the view of equine welfare in her community. Part of this effort is focused on sharing the important topics that affect equines in her country, changing the behaviors of people, advocating for animal owners to receive the resources needed for care and positively influencing the conversation of how equines are partnered with. Join Isabel in her journey to educate others about equine welfare in South Africa and learn more about African Horse Sickness, a struggle common in her area of the world. Read more
