Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International

Recipients of the 2013 Equine Industry Vision Award

sponsored by Zoetis, presented by American Horse Publications

  November 18, 2014

Message From CEO Kathy Alm

Kathy Alm The annual conference in San Diego was a great time of learning and connecting. Throughout the conference, I shared my thoughts on the future of PATH Intl. and the EAAT industry and updated the membership on progress toward our strategic goals. For those of you unable to attend conference this year, here is a snippet of what those attending heard:

"I believe that PATH Intl. should be a household name - a trusted brand that everyone knows means safe and effective EAAT services are found here. That's a simple statement to make, but it's what Jim Collins would call a BEHAG: A Big Hairy Audacious Goal. Through execution of our strategic plan, I know we can make that vision a reality. Progress to date includes a thorough analysis of our current instructor credentialing process with a roadmap for improvement and the formation of a Quality Assurance Task Force whose recommendations on the creation of an effective grievance procedure provide a process for ensuring that membership is upholding the standards.

"Other areas of focus include: Best practice standards for the treatment of our partner, the equine; research focused on outcomes that support the work being done at our centers; educational opportunities that provide the ongoing education necessary to be successful; alignment with universities and colleges and other institutions of learning to ensure their teaching aligns with our standards and that we are working together to make a career in EAAT viable, including a living wage; and finally and equally as important, partnerships throughout the EAAT community to make the industry stronger as a whole."

I look forward to continued progress as we move forward together.

Share Your Stories With a PATH Intl. Member for an Upcoming Book

Have a great success story to share? It could be featured in an upcoming book about therapeutic riding and driving.

Nanette Holt, a PATH Intl. Member, volunteer at a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center in Florida, and professional writer and editor, is putting together a collection of inspiring, heartwarming and true stories that have come out of the work we do. Her hope is that the book will encourage participants, educate providers and even help centers raise money.

If you have a wonderful story to share about the work you do -- a story that really demonstrates a dramatic change in a participant's life because of a relationship with a horse or time in the saddle -- please send a brief summary of the story to Nanette or email her for more information. Share those successes and help tell the world about what we do and why we do it!

Congratulations to PATH Intl. Member
