Counting Down the Early Bird Registration: PATH Intl. Conference and Annual Meeting Information
Conference logo
The deadline for early bird registration is only a few days away! After Friday, September 22, the member rate goes up $100 to $550. Don't miss out on the lowest rate in a decade.  Come support PATH Intl. members in the great state of Texas post-Hurricane Harvey. Our proud Texas and region 8 members are looking forward to hosting the PATH Intl. membership and being among the encouragement and camaraderie of their colleagues.

Join us in San Antonio, Texas, November 8-11, 2017, for the 2017 PATH Intl. Conference and Annual Meeting, presented by title sponsor Purina. San Antonio is approximately two hours west of Houston, not close enough to have sustained damage from Hurricane Harvey. So be assured that the conference is going on as planned, and we are thrilled with the  excellent education sessions selected by the PATH Intl. Health and Education Advisory and the host committee in Texas. (See below for more details on the general session kicking off the conference on Wednesday afternoon.)

Hotel Information - Reserve Now!
While PATH Intl. has reserved a room block at the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk, many hotel rooms in the San Antonio area are being booked in advance for conferences that are now relocating from Houston to San Antonio in addition to the people working cleanup. Because of that, we may not be able to get overflow rooms at the discount rate if we sell out. Please reserve your room as soon as possible.  Click here to book now or call (888) 421-1442 and identify yourself as being with PATH Intl. to secure the discounted hotel rate. Click here for general conference information. Also consider booking a flight and reserving a rental car as soon as possible to account for possible fuel cost increases.

Transportation to Horse Expo
There is plenty of complimentary parking at the Kendall County Youth Agriculture & Equestrian Center, the site of the 2017 PATH Intl. Horse Expo. It is just under an hour away from the hotel. We encourage attendees when possible to drive themselves to the horse expo. Please note on your registration form whether you will need transportation.
Opening General Session: Hurdles or Opportunities? Trends, Innovations and Disruptions in the EAAT Industry

Wednesday, November 8, 4:30 to 6 p.m.

When was the last time you bought an 8-track tape? Used a rotary dial phone? Have you thought about the disruptions to the taxi industry with the advent of rideshare services?

Change is inevitable. What isn't predictable is the response by people, organizations, businesses and industries to these changes. Some can't overcome the hurdles that change presents. For forward-thinkers, though, change is an opportunity for growth, development and, ultimately, sustainability.

Kick off the conference week with a stimulating panel discussion with audience participation on the potential disruptions in EAAT and how that impacts present business models. For instance, how will new technology affect how certified professionals measure outcomes? What is the future of collecting and storing data, including biological feedback? What are future social media trends? How will PATH Intl. be a part of advancements in the medical industry? These are just a few of the topics that may be discussed during this opening session.

Panelists
Julie Broadway, CAE, President, PATH Intl. Board of Trustees; President, American Horse Council
Dana Butler-Moburg, Executive Director, J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center, a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center in San Juan Capistrano, CA

Update on Special Educators Outreach Campaign
In early 2017, PATH Intl. launched an outreach campaign for special education teachers to heighten awareness of EAAT and the crucial role PATH Intl. Member Centers and Professionals play in the industry. Through education, the objective is to facilitate connections between special education teachers and their local PATH Intl. Centers and Professionals to have them consider EAAT a viable activity for their students.

Following are some highlights of the campaign, including a new online education opportunity the association is excited to announce!

NEW
A FREE webinar will be held October 16, 2017 at 12 p.m., Mountain Daylight Time for anyone in EAAT interested in learning how to connect their center or services with schools.

"EAAT and IEPs -- Opening the Gate to Collaboration" is part of a FREE
three-part series presented by PATH Intl. Certified Registered Instructor and University of Oklahoma
Zarrow Center for Learning Enrichment doctoral scholar Andrea Suk, M.S.Ed.

Andrea Suk
Andrea obtained her bachelor's degree as a learning behavior specialist from Bradley University. She has taught in both Illinois and Arizona as a high school special education teacher where she also quickly developed the role of preparing students for careers after graduation. Upon completing her master's degree in transition through the University of Kansas, she became a transition specialist in Texas. During this time, Andrea completed more than 150 transition plans for students in both high school and middle school settings. Andrea has received distinct recognition for her leadership as the ACE (Architecture, Construction and Engineering mentor group for high school students) mentor of the year in Phoenix, the Walmart Teacher of the Year (Glendale, AZ), and is a Target Grant Field Trip recipient.

Topics covered will include trends, goals, policies and terminology to help facilitate the connection to local schools and special educators. To register for the webinar, click here! The webinar will also be recorded and available in the store for purchase after October, 18. 2017.

The next two webinars in the series, also presented by Ms. Suk, will include ideas for connecting with special education students and connecting with special education teachers. Dates to be announced soon.
