Virtual Camporee; Saturday, May 16th
We have put together a team of dynamic volunteers that are putting together a variety of pre-recorded and pre-event competitions as well as prepared for a series of live sessions on May 16 th . Please pay close attention to the submission requirements and dates so that you and your family do not miss out on participating in some of these wonderful events. Here are some of the events with deadlines.

Ask an NASA Astronaut
Submit questions before Friday May 1st and a real NASA Astronaut will respond via pre-recorded video as part of the Digital Campfire. Send your questions to [email protected]

Council Campfire CookBook
Every unit has their favorite recipe for snacks around the Campfire. Submit your units favorite Campfire snack recipe with a photo and it will become part of the 1st Longhouse Council Campfire Cookbook. Submissions will require unit type Troop/Pack/Crew/Ship and unit number. Please include a little story of why this is your units favorite recipe. Submissions must be received by Friday May 8th and sent to [email protected]    

Digital Campfire
·          Slide Show : Every Patrol and Den is encouraged to submit up to 5 pictures of their units to be included in the Slide Show. File name should include the Unit # 
Each submission should be between 30 seconds and 2 minutes in length, unless MB requires more. 
Content should be
o   Skit Related,
o   Scout Related just like the Movie Making Webelos/ AoL elective states,
o   Family Related due to the Camporee theme or
o   Merit Badge Requirement Related
Options include (but not limited to): Pre-recorded skit; Puppet Show Skit; YouTube-Style Review; Lip Synch Music Video; Public Service Announcement; Commercial (Mock or Serious); Movie Trailer, Merit Badge Requirement Submission or Scout Recruitment Video.
Oscars will be mailed to the Units. Categories are: 1. Best Picture 2. Best Sound Mixing 3. Best Comedy 4. Best Story 5. Best Costume Design 6. Best Film Editing 7. Best PSA 8. Best Commercial 9. Best Music Video 10. Best Skit 11. Best Scout Recruitment Film 12. Best Merit Badge Submission
Submissions should be
o   Uploaded to https://bit.ly/SubmitVCamp
o   Saved in a standard MP4 format,
o   Named with the Unit# and the Scout Name,
o   Sent by Friday, May 8 th
While there is no limit on submissions, the Camporee Committee reserves the right to select from multiple entries due to time constraints and will jury for quality and appropriateness.

Online Safety
It is not a requirement to participate but we encourage everyone to take some time and review some of the BSA guidelines for Cyber Safety, which involves educating our youth about privacy protections in an ever- expanding digital world.

Please be on the lookout for more info as it becomes available. This event looks to be one of a kind and something to remember, so mark your calendar and be sure to attend.
Leadership development is one of the Scouting movements core principles. There is no better program for our youth than NYLT. If you want a Youth run Troop you need to register your Scouts for the Council NYLT program on August 9th - 14th, 2020.

Summer Camp
Many people are wondering will Summer Camp still happen? The answer is absolutely it will. There is nothing that will make us all feel better, than getting back to normal and going to summer camp. We have a team of dedicated volunteers and professionals busily planning and preparing for some really spectacular Summer Camp programs. Please check out our website for more info.
Virtual Resources
Scouting can continue while we are all spending extra time at home. Here are several websites that will help you develop programs and find resources that can keep youth of all ages engaged. Some of these programs are great for school work as well.

There is a day soon that we will be back to business as usual and Scouting will start up as if no time has past at all. What better way to be prepared for the return of your Scouting program than to complete some online training. There are plenty of resources and informative training modules that can help you to get ready for the return of Scouting.

Please follow these simple steps;
  1. Email your Advancement report or supply request to [email protected]
  2. Next a Customer Service Representative will contact you to arrange payment.
  3. Then your advancement materials and products will be shipped via FedEx.
