Meet Sweet Potato, a 14-year-old domestic short-hair, whose owners put her out after getting a new dog. A neighbor spotted her living with a feral colony and asked us to take her in. After arriving at WSHS, we noticed she had trouble getting up from her bed. The vet did x-rays, and she has degenerative arthritis in both her elbows, requiring monthly shots and pain medications. She is now in a permanent foster home where she can live out her life in comfort, and WSHS will continue to provide her with all the food and medications she needs.

Because of donors like you, we are able to care for animals like Sweet Potato, providing above-and-beyond rescue care to animals with extra medical needs.

Our Annual Pawction event will be held at our adoption center from 5-8pm. Guests will enjoy barbeque and beverages, have the opportunity to meet some of our adoptable animals, and enjoy some fun on-site games to help kick off the holiday season!



Plus, take the chance to view our amazing auction prizes in person, and take them home with you if you are the winner! Bidders do not need to be present to participate in the auction, but why not join us for some pre-holiday fun!

Meet one of the our September recipients of our Above and Beyond Rescue Care award: Cindy Johnson, an every other Saturday am cattery volunteer.

Cindy’s nominator says: “Cindy helps WSHS in many ways. She writes the majority of our grants and is very successful. She also transports animals to and from the vet. She picks up donations from Meijer on a regular basis. She even took Sweetie Belle all the way to the University of Madison and back again for her leg surgery! Cindy is a real asset to WSHS.”
