Winter Meetings Recap

If you didn't make it to all of the meetings last week, you may want to check out the recap.

The general theme of the week was engagement. We all know the struggle it can be to get members involved, but Cindy Cepko has made it her goal to get members working together and setting goals to make progress.

If you did not have a chance to participate, we urge you to mark your calendars for July 12-16 for the Summer Board Meeting.

1 in 21 - Membership Drive

During the Membership Committee Meeting, NAHB Membership Committee Vice Chair Dianne Beaton shared some details about the 2021 Membership Drive. The slogan for the year is "1 in 21" - asking all members to bring on one new member during the year.

The NAHB is hosting a membership drive competition this year and all locals are encouraged to review the details - you might earn some much needed cash as well.

Hammers and Gavels

We have made it easier for all members to participate in Hammers and Gavels. Signups are now available online. Please make sure all your members check out the form and tell us if there are any members of the General Assembly who they can connect with on behalf of PBA.

Meet Lauren Adams, EO of the HBA of Chester and Delaware Counties

How long have you been an EO? "10 years"
What do you like best about being an EO? "Making a difference in the community through our community service efforts is by far the most rewarding aspect of my job."
What is a “fun fact” about you that no one may know? "I am mom of 3.. there is nothing fun about me 😊 but….. We purchased an RV and named her 'Big Bertha' during the pandemic and plan to travel all over the US with our 3 girls (15, 10 and 2) and our dog. I have no idea how this will go, but it will be an adventure for sure!"
UCC Calendar

The Department of Labor and Industry’s (Department) Uniform Construction Code (UCC) Review and Advisory Council (RAC) is almost done with voting on the final adoption of the International Code Council’s (ICC) 2018 Model Code for use in Pennsylvania. The RAC has held four voting meetings on the 2018 Model Codes since January of 2021, with one more meeting scheduled for March 11th , where they will discuss and start vote on the International Residential Code and the International Energy Conservation Code for Residential Buildings. The RAC anticipates submitting their final report to the Department by May 1. The final report will include the code provisions that have been adopted, modified, and rejected by the RAC. Once the Department receives the report they are required to promulgate final-omit regulations to fully adopt the changes of the 2018 ICC Model Codes into the Pennsylvania UCC. Depending on how long it takes for the Department to gain the necessary approvals for the regulation, the 2018 ICC Codes could become effective in Pennsylvania as early as July 1, 2021.

The Biden administration is establishing a two-week window starting on Wednesday, Feb. 24, in which only businesses with fewer than 20 employees — the overwhelming majority of small businesses — can apply for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) forgivable loans.

The next EOC Meeting will be MARCH 17 at 9:30 a.m.
