PBA Continues Advocacy Efforts on Behalf of Members
Last week, we held a meeting with the Governor's office on the bus driver shortage, CDL testing delays and hurdles, and needs of our member to receive funding from the Commonwealth from the leftover American Rescue package. We are also in talks with PennDOT about the testing issues.
Further, John Bailey submitted testimony for the recent Transportation Hearing regarding our opposition to PennDOT's proposed “Pathways Major Bridge P3 Initiative” and the tolling of bridges on interstates across the Commonwealth. Click here for a copy of the letter.
We also contacted all the House representatives in the state to request a tax exemption for CERTS grant funding. Specifically, we have asked them to co-sign a letter written by four leaders, Reps. Jimmy Panetta, D-Calif., Darin LaHood, R-Ill., Albio Sires, D-N.J., and John Rose, R-Tenn. They have taken the lead in seeking bipartisan support to make the CERTS Act grants exempt from being reportable income, avoiding a possible tax liability.
The letter will be sent to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarty. They will ask fellow House Members to join the effort by signing the letter by Thursday, Oct. 21. To do your part in requesting our representatives to co-sign the letter, please use UMA's click-here campaign, or email/call your representatives. Thank you!
