PBC Property Owners —
By now you’ve seen your TRIM notice in the mail. They’re not tax bills yet, but they’re the clearest signal of what local officials want to charge this fall.
Here’s the plain truth: even if the “rate” stays the same, higher property values mean higher bills. That’s why we look at the rollback rate—the number that keeps government revenue flat. Anything higher is a tax increase.
I don’t believe the answer can always be to endlessly go to the well of property taxes, especially when families and seniors are already being squeezed out of affordability of the homes they worked so hard to own.
While Governor DeSantis’s DOGE team is visiting the County rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse, we should rightly let them do their work, exhausting every means possible to ease the burden on taxpayers, before piling on homeowners.
Here’s how you can stay informed and stay engaged:
- Attend the public hearings this September and tell taxing authorities the reality you are living as a property owner facing rising rates.
- Remind them that common sense means tightening spending before raising rates.
-
If you think your assessment is wrong, you can petition the Value Adjustment Board. You have 25 days from when your TRIM notice was mailed. The posted petition deadline is September 15, 2025.
That’s why now is the time to speak up. I’ll keep fighting to reduce the property tax burden and protect Palm Beach County families.
A public hearing on the proposed taxes and budget will be held at the locations and dates below.
Sincerely,
Commissioner Sara Baxter
