Barraque Plaza Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
On Thursday, July 18, 2019, Pine Bluff Downtown Development was proud to showcase the newly installed canopy at Barraque Plaza.

The Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce Red Coats were on hand to assist with the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony as were Louise Sullivan from the Mayor's office and Greg Phillips and staff from Main Street Arkansas. PBDD President David Brown welcomed the guests and provided background on the development of the plaza.

Many thanks the Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation, Main Street Arkansas, a division of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, and Fifty for the Future for funds to complete the project. Sutliff Construction installed the steel framing and East Harding Construction Company installed the canopy panels.

The completion of this project is one more addition to the great improvements happening in downtown Pine Bluff.

Downtown Streetscape

The downtown Streetscape project will begin in August when Liberty Utilities starts their work replacing and improving the water lines down Barraque and Main Streets. The first part of the Streetscape project construction will begin at Walnut Street to State Street. The next section will be Main Street to 4th Avenue and completion will be from 4th to 8th avenues. The suggested project timeline has the first phase of the street construction to begin in September 2019. These dates are not set in stone as there are several entities working together to bring about this exciting change to downtown Pine Bluff.
