Tuesday, January 11 from 6-7 PM via Zoom
Join PBS Western Reserve and Milk Street Cooking School for a virtual cook-along class, which will be taught by Rosemary Gill, director of education at Milk Street Cooking School. You will learn all about spices and how to make your own spice blend. Rosemary will talk about all things food and answer your cooking questions.
 
You have a story to share. How do you want to share it? Where do you want to share it? What is your format in how you share it? Do you want to do a audio podcast? Do you want to create video content? Do you want to start a blog?

Well, how about all of the above?

These questions and more will be explored in this training. There are many resources across the internet that can provide you insight and training in digital content creation.

Your journey will start with:

  • Subscribing to online platforms to start a website, audio podcast, video channel, and produce creative imagery.
  • WordPress will be your website platform where all of your content will be displayed.
  • You will learn the basic techniques in writing for the web
  • You have a voice and now you will share it in an audio podcast
  • You will venture in producing effective video by learning industry techniques
  • Learn about creative image platforms to enhance the appearance of your digital content platforms

Now more than ever, educators need support around digital media literacy skills, in both remote and traditional classroom environments. The Ohio Ed Techs are joining with KQED to share the PBS Media Literacy Educator Certification with educators in this series of professional learning courses. The courses are open to all Ohio educators, including PreK-12 classroom teachers, librarians, TOSAs and anyone who wants to make media-rich, digitally-savvy learning available to students. The Academy will give you the skills and experience you need to connect the dots between digital citizenship, media literacy, 21st Century skills and national curriculum standards and to prepare you to earn the PBS Media Literacy Educator Certification.
Graduate credit is available through Ashland University for an additional fee
.
Please note that each individual is responsible for earning their PBS Media Literacy Educator Certification. This Academy will provide all of the information needed, along with support while developing artifacts that must be submitted for approval by the certifying agency.
Educators may attend one or all of the classes in the Academy.
Each class meets twice per month. The first day covers information about the microcredential and submission requirements, instruction and resources related to the microcredential, and brainstorming ideas for projects. The second day is a work session to provide resources specific to successfully completing the microcredential, more brainstorming, collaboration, and Q&A.

Ohio’s premier professional development conference will take place virtually February 14 - 18. Designed for P-20 educators, OETC offers a wide variety of sessions, displays, demonstrations, and learning experiences designed to showcase best practices, introduce innovative teaching strategies, explore interactive classroom environments, and highlight the implementation of new technologies to empower more effective teaching and learning.
Throughout the conference, attendees can learn what’s new and look toward the future by exploring new technologies, experimenting with hands-on demonstrations in an interactive atmosphere, and learning how to integrate new ideas and new teaching methodologies into the learning environment.
