As a child, Mary lived deep in the country outside of Syracuse, New York. She learned to entertain herself by playing outside, developing her love of nature and a keen imagination. Her family moved to Florida near the Kennedy Space Center and she had to adjust to a different climate and totally different culture. She took art classes when she could afford it and traded live modeling for art instruction. Growing restless at seventeen, Mary hitch hiked round trip from Florida to Vancouver, Canada. At eighteen, she hitched from Florida to Toronto with a friend. Through these adventures she discovered those with the least were the first to share and what a great variety of wonderful people exist.

|
With her thirst for adventure temporarily quenched, Mary ended up in Tucson to attend U of A earning her degree in Landscape Architecture. After graduation she moved to Phoenix. After working in the private sector for a number of years, She worked in project management for the local government . Her favorite projects were with historic preservation, such as the restoration of Tovrea Castle and the Steele Indian School buildings. She also had the opportunity to work with a Japanese architect and a master carpenter for the design and construction of the authentic restroom building at the Japanese Friendship Garden. Mary continued to paint and took up jewelry design. Much of her artwork at this time was donated for various nonprofit events.
Fast forward to retirement. She and her family escaped the heat and pollution of the valley and moved to Prescott. Mary became a volunteer at the Prescott Center for the Arts and renewed her love of painting. She was commissioned to paint two large local scenes for The Highlands Center for Natural History. One painting featured a composite woodland scene and the other shows Granite Basin Lake. Her foray into three dimensional design won Mary both First Places and Viewers Choice at the PCA gallery for the Dia de Los Muertos juried show. Mary continues to take art classes and paints daily.
