Hello everybody!
Today was a day where I really appreciated my arctic coat. Since most of us here are of the generation that actually walked back and forth to school back in the day, we are all well aware of the old adage, "You're only as cold as what you wear." Before I came to work in Perinton, I lived and worked for the Town of Hamlin. Going to Hamlin Beach State park was one of the highlights of life there; including in the winter, when the most amazing ice formations would push against the sandy shore. They were full of driftwood that would later be deposited on the beach once the ice melted; all ready for me to collect and do who-knows-what with. So I needed a coat that would stand up to that North Pole environment and that's what I'm wearing as I do my thing during the lunch distribution hour. While I very much appreciate the concern from so many of you, I also wanted to let you know, that I am warm and toasty in my coat. Today was a good day to test its staying power and I can report back that it still worked fine. I will therefore join the ranks of mail carriers who carry on through rain and snow and all kinds of challenging weather conditions! Your lunch is my mission!
Speaking of lunch, Chef Christina's menu items are posted for next week. Lots of comfort food to keep you warm! Don't miss out on the delicious soup of the week; it's far from spicy and some of those who have tried it before have asked to let you know when it's back. Come and get it!
The February Theater Dinner event is posted and I know that a bunch of you have really been looking forward to this one, so don't hesitate to register because this event is going to fill fast!
I have put up a new post for the Zentangle art class that will begin at the end of this month. In the previous posting, I mistakenly omitted the second date of the two-part series of classes, so the new post includes both dates.
You still have time to register for the Learn to Paint class on Monday, 1/22, so don't delay if this was something you intended on participating in. These classes are always such an opportunity to meet like-minded people, so give it a try!
Finally, please remember to bring your 'indoor shoes' when coming to fitness classes. The amount of salt outside gets tracked into the building easily and we need to avoid getting the floors in the fitness areas dirty because we don't have time to wash the floors in between classes. Salty floors create a big slipping hazard during class and it can be avoided if everyone bring in different shoes other than the ones they wore into the building. Thank you in advance!
Hope you have a good rest of the week!
All the best,
Anke
