What Questions do you have for SCDOT?

SCDOT adopted their Departmental Directive for Complete Streets in February 2021. If you have any questions for how this policy is implemented in your city or town, please email us directly. We are here to get your questions answered.
National Bike Summit: PCC's federal lobbying
Yesterday, the PCC and district partners lobbied your US senators and representatives on further implementing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The law brought us better policies, programs, and funding, and we lobbied to bring funding to 2 new programs: the Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program and the Healthy Streets Program. We will follow up with these elected officials to further advance the movement at the federal level.
PCC Mapping Project
PCC is initiating a project to create maps illustrating basic Bike Level of Service, based on Level of Traffic Stress. We're creating a statewide dataset that can be used later at smaller levels: county, city, town, or regions. We will keep you updated on progress as we create the statewide dataset, and we look forward to engaging local partners to find ways to use these maps locally. See map examples below and contact us to discuss. The maps could answer many questions, such as:
  1. How do I ride more, while avoiding high stress routes?
  2. How do I navigate within, through, and between neighborhoods, so I'm taking the least stressful route to work / school / friends / recreational rides?
  3. Where should we place a trail in our town, so the most people can get to it, without needing a car?
  4. Where should I locate my business, so I'm accessible to a lot more people by bike?
Legislative Agenda
Trails
PCC advocates with partners statewide for H.3120, the Trails Tax Incentive bill. This bill passed the House Ways & Means committee today! We believe this bill is positioned well to beat the cross over deadline of April 7, which is when H.3120 needs to move from the House to the Senate. Stay tuned for an Action Alert.

Hands Free
S.248 went through intense negotiation before successfully making it out of the Senate by March 1 this year. It currently resides in the House Judiciary committee, where it is again undergoing intense negotiation before advancing. PCC is working intensely with Representatives and partners to move this forward and meet the challenges. Stay tuned for Actions on this bill.
