Applications for admission to the PCC’s Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training program and Psychoanalysis Training program will be accepted through the annual admissions deadline of March 31. Students accepted for matriculation will be admitted for the fall semester. There is one application process regardless of the training program selected.
Applicants who are accepted may elect to enroll in the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training program or the Psychoanalysis Training program. Students choose their training program after they are accepted and may begin coursework before making their choice.
As always, a wide range of PCC courses are open to mental health professionals who are not participating in one of our training programs.
Applicants who would like to matriculate in the fall semester must submit their application materials by March 31.
| The Dorothy E. Holmes Fellowship supports broad and deep psychoanalytic understanding to promote a more just society and relieve personal suffering. Fellowship–supported research projects will advance strategies to ameliorate the psychic burden experienced by those holding oppressed identities, including race, class, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, ability, and/or other identity markers. Applicants are invited to propose projects related to identity, oppression, and/or intersectionality in treatment and supervisory relationships, classrooms, professional groups, academia, or the larger community. | |
This Fellowship honors the important work of Dorothy E. Holmes, PhD, national leader on racial equality in American psychoanalysis, and Training and Supervising Analyst with the PCC.
The Holmes Fellowship is made possible thanks to a generous donation from Sandra and Steve Bennett.
Letters of Intent due March 31

Renu Goel, MD is an ABPN board-certified adult psychiatrist. Since graduating from the UNC Chapel Hill Adult Psychiatry Residency, she has been in private practice for over 20 years in Cary, where she sees adults for psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. Her interests include the intersection of the treatment of resistant psychiatric diseases with psychedelics, coupled with integration therapy, appreciating a strong overlap with the methods and goals of psychoanalytic treatment. She is a recent graduate of the Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics Facilitator Training Program, as well as the MAPS training for MDMA assisted psychotherapy.

Greg Helton, MD is originally from Chattanooga, TN, where he lived until attending medical school at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. From there, he went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for his residency training in psychiatry. Since graduating from residency 10 years ago, he has been practicing at MindPath Health (formerly Carolina Partners in Mental Healthcare), which is a group practice with several locations in the Triangle. He is currently working at the Chapel Hill office seeing adults. Being a psychoanalyst is unique in this clinic setting, and he finds value in bridging the gap between working psychoanalytically and being a "psychopharmacologist".

John Tisdale, DMin, LCMHC is a seasoned clinician, licensed and practicing for 28 years. He currently maintains a private practice in Durham where he sees children, adolescents, and adults of all ages in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
