Phillip works primarily with queer and trans adults and cis women and has been seeing clients since September of 2022. They use psychodynamic psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and their approach is consistently informed by queer, crip, and anti-racist theory. By night, Phillip teaches at Night School Bar in Durham, offering graduate-level courses on queer theory, ecology, literature, and the strange places where those things intersect. They have experience in activism and social organizing in four countries; have taught courses at the University of Chicago and Duke University; have completed a field placement at Duke’s Center for Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation; and have worked at different times as a bartender, barista, day laborer, and freelance writer.
