PCC Announces 2026-2027 Scholarship and Fellowship Recipients

Byck Scholarships

Kirsten Chang, MSW, LCSWA, is a psychotherapist at the Center for Psychological and Family Services. She received her MSW from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2025 after pivoting from a career in communications (although she still moonlights as a freelance children's book author). She lives in Raleigh with her husband, their dog Lincoln, and their cat June.

Brittney Cobb-Farmer, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with over 10 years of experience working with individuals and families in healthcare and community settings. She currently provides psychotherapy to women, adolescents and young adults, with a focus on relationships, identity and life transitions. Brittney is grateful to receive the Judy Byck Scholarship and looks forward to expanding her psychoanalytic training through the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, yoga, gardening and baking.

Anita Frohlich, MSW, LCSWA, is an Outpatient Child and Family Therapist at the Lucy Daniels Center. She received her MSW from UNC-Chapel Hill, where she was named an Inclusive Teams Fellow and an Interprofessional Education and Practice Distinguished Scholar, after a career path that included law, neuroscience research, yoga teaching, and parenting. Anita's clinical approach is psychodynamic and attachment-informed, with a focus on object relations and children's play. Anita is honored to be part of this year's Judy Byck Scholarship cohort and appreciates the opportunity to strengthen and deepen ideas she has largely developed through independent reading and supervision. She looks forward to learning alongside such a thoughtful community.

Togor Gado, MSW, is a Nigerian-American LCSWA, working primarily with BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ populations across the lifespan. Their clinical interest include complex trauma from identity based harm, mood disorders, and trauma and stress-related disorders. They obtained their BS in biochemistry, which provided a foundational understanding of the body’s complexity, which later evolved into a fascination with how our brains and minds are shaped by our environment, genetics, and personal experiences. This led them to joining the field of clinical social work because of its person-centered, biopsychosocial model of care. Their clinical approach incorporates Ecowomanist theory, EMDR, DBT, relational psychodynamic and narrative therapy. They are excited to continue refining their clinical skills in community with other mental health professionals as a Judith Byck scholarship recipient.

Emma Herman, LCSWA, is a recent graduate of North Carolina State University's Master of Social Work program. She discovered her passion for psychoanalysis through her undergraduate studies in philosophy and psychology. Emma currently works as a therapist with a focus on self-esteem, anxiety, and ADHD. She is looking forward to deepening her understanding of psychoanalytic practice as a Judy Byck scholar.

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Scholarships

Dakia “Kia” Davis (she/her) is a clinical social worker based in Raleigh, NC with a private practice, Healing Journey Therapy & Consulting, where she works with adults navigating trauma, grief, and major life transitions. Many of her clients are Black, LGBTQIA+, and/or survivors of violence. Kia integrates cognitive and mindfulness-based approaches and is a certified yoga teacher. She earned her MSW from Howard University. Her interests include identity development and community psychoanalysis. She is a matriculated Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training at PCC and co-coordinates the Race and Othering Study Group. In her spare time, Kia enjoys gardening, spending time with her dog, Missy, and exploring National Parks.

Christopher Gantt, MSW, LCSW, began clinical work at the Department of Veterans Affairs, where he spent ten years serving clients at the intersection of chronic mental illness and housing insecurity. He has been in private practice for the past seven years, focusing on trauma, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, psychosomatics, and mindfulness. After living and working in North Carolina for ten years, he recently relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado.

2026-2027 Raft Fellow

Monica Mann-Wrobel, PhD, is a psychologist in private practice in Chapel Hill, NC. Since 2015, she has served adults and couples for psychotherapy, initially specializing in the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy model of treatment for individuals and Emotion Focused Therapy for couples. She began studying psychoanalysis around 2023 and formally matriculated as a student with the PCC in the Adult Psychoanalysis track in 2025.

Presented by Susanne Walker Wilson, LCSW, this internationally renowned program is designed to help professionals and caregivers understand both the theory and the attachment research that defines this reflective intervention. The PCC Circle of Security committee will be offering a limited number of $500 scholarships for this in-person training to PCC members who work with caregivers of young children. Contact Deb Mugno for further details and for a scholarship application.
