COSP at National

Smart Start Conference

PCC member and Circle of Security® trainer, Susanne Walker Wilson, with her colleague Turkessa Baten, have been selected to present their workshop, Reflection is a Parenting Superpower: Circle of Security Parenting™(COSP), at the National Smart Start Conference in Greensboro, May 6-9! This Smart Start Conference is the nation’s largest conference dedicated to early education systems and strategies. COSP espouses attachment theory and the importance of reflection as a path to change and choice – a parenting superpower. The presentation will demonstrate the efficacy of adult reflective capacity especially amidst oppressive life circumstances. Susanne Walker Wilson is part of a 5 person, PCC-supported team that created and steers Circle Together, a statewide collaborative committed to bringing Circle of Security programs to early childhood organizations and systems across North Carolina.

April is National Volunteer Month

PCC was founded by volunteers and could not exist without thousands of volunteer hours each year. Thank you to all, past and present, who have served as committee members, board members, task force members, event planners and helpers, newsletter editors, fundraisers, instructors, referral service participants, and much more!

There are many opportunities for PCC members to volunteer and make a difference. You can join one of our committees, and we are also currently taking nominations to serve on the Board of Directors.

To learn more, contact Vann Pearsall.

Welcome New Faculty

The PCC welcomes Allen Dyer, MD, PhD, to our PCC faculty!

After finishing his MD (Psychiatry) and PhD (Ethics) at Duke, and his analytic training in the UNC-Duke Psychoanalytic Education Program, Allen has had a long and illustrious career in Psychiatry, including segments at Albany Medical College, East Tennessee State University, and, most recently, at the George Washington University Department of Psychiatry, where he is Professor Emeritus.

Currently, Allen maintains a part-time practice seeing adult and geriatric patients about 20 hours/week. He recently relocated to Durham and is eager to connect with the PCC in a variety of ways. Look for Allen to give a Scientific Program on Ethics in October 2024.
