2024 Thomas J. Pearsall, Jr. Psychiatry Fellowships

Apply by May 30, 2024

Psychiatrists seeking to explore psychoanalytic theory and practice can apply for a Pearsall Fellowship prior to enrolling in one of the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas’ clinical training programs. Thanks to the generous support of Thomas J. Pearsall, Jr., the PCC extends fellowships to psychiatry residents and early career psychiatry faculty within residency training programs across North and South Carolina.

Pearsall Fellows are awarded up to $5,000 to cover expenses related to coursework, clinical supervision, and individual treatment offered by the PCC and its experienced members. These funds can also be used for attendance at psychoanalytic meetings and conferences.

To further enhance their professional development, Pearsall Fellows are given a Professional Membership to the PCC, granting them access to resources such as the Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (PEP) database. As members of our psychoanalytic community, fellows have ample opportunities for networking and can earn free continuing education credits by participating in PCC Scientific Programs and Study Groups.

Completed applications must be received by May 30.

Submit Board of Directors Nominations by May 31, 2024

As we navigate through the exciting journey of growth and development, we are reaching out to all members with an invitation to join us in shaping the future of our organization.

The PCC Nominating Committee is currently accepting nominations for the office of President and President-Elect and for new members of the Board of Directors. Per the bylaws, potential board members are approved by the Board of Directors and presented to the membership for election at the Annual Meeting of Members on June 29, 2024.

The term of office for members of the Board of Directors is two fiscal years (July 1, 2024-June 30, 2026), with a maximum of three consecutive terms. After three terms, a member may serve on the Board again after a minimum one-year hiatus.

By joining the board, you can contribute directly to the decision-making processes that will shape the future of the PCC. Your ideas and insights will directly influence the strategic initiatives and projects, ensuring that they align with the needs and aspirations of our members.

If you wish to nominate another member or yourself, contact me or PCC President Harold Kudler. Nominations for 2024-25 are due by May 31.

Announcement of Tuition Increase

The Training and Education Committee (TEC) conducted comprehensive research into tuition rates at institutes nationwide and found that our tuition rates are the lowest in the country. Remarkably, our tuition rates have remained unchanged for over a decade. Following an in-depth review of the research findings, the TEC recommended a tuition adjustment, a proposal approved by the Board of Directors.

Initially, we will raise tuition rates this Fall by 5% (matriculated students), 7% (residents and students), and 9% (non-matriculated students). Subsequently, we will institute a yearly 3% increase (for all categories of students) in order to keep up with inflation.

For questions, comments, or concerns, please reach out to Dhipthi Brundage.
