FCC Votes to Increase Broadband Funding for Telehealth Expansion

"Healthcare providers in rural parts of the country will soon have more flexibility to use telemedicine, thanks to an increase in funding for broadband expansion projects.
The Federal Communications Commission this week unanimously approved a long-debated increase in the Universal Service Fund's Rural Healthcare Program, adding $171 million to this calendar year's account."

Duke Endowment Gives MUSC More than $1 million to Grow Palliative Care Telehealth Program

"The Duke Endowment recently awarded $1.3 million to the Medical University of South Carolina to establish a palliative care telehealth program. 

The new initiative will allow palliative care providers at MUSC to deliver comfort care and end-of-life care to patients at hospitals across the state, particularly in rural areas. "
Grant Helps Grow Telepsychiatry Services in SC

"The state's telepsychiatry program will be expanded to help relieve the psychiatrist shortage with new grants totaling $1.8 million from The Duke Endowment.

Some $600,000 will be used to help add more advance practice registered nurses for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health's telepsychiatry program, DMH announced Thursday."

Bonnie Church joined Palmetto Care Connections as the Credentialing Coordinator for Bi-Proxy Credentialing Telehealth Providers.  Bonnie comes to us with over ten years of provider credentialing experience in South Carolina and has taken a lead role in creating a shared credentialing database for HUB and Spoke hospitals that provide telemedicine to rural South Carolina residents.
