What the Scriptures have to say about race and equality.
February is Black History Month. Here are six passages of Scripture to consider when talking with your church about racial justice and diversity.
Genesis 1:27
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” This truth is foundational. God created all human beings in His image. Gender, skin color, and other physical differences do not change that reality. (Also see Genesis 5:1.)
Matthew 28:19
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations.” Thankfully, the gospel is not only for one nationality, ethnicity, or race. The gift of salvation is freely available to all. As Christ’s followers, our job is to proclaim this good news to the world. (Also see Luke 24:47.)
Romans 10:12
“For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile — the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him.” Believers should follow this example. (Also see James 1:2.)
