PCCNA WELCOMES
NEW MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS AT
ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN DC

PCCNA welcomed two new member organizations at the Annual Conference in Washington, DC, on February 19:

Bishop David Epps accepted on behalf of Cathedral of Christ the King and The Charismatic Episcopal Church of North America.

More than a catchy conference theme, “Above and Beyond” was the spiritual and relational reality at the 2026 PCCNA annual gathering. We were inspired in spirit to have a gift of faith for what God has in store for His people, especially the young, beyond what we have previously experienced.” David Wells, PCCNA President.

JEWEL WOOD, WIDOW OF
FORMER GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT
GEORGE W. WOOD, PASSES

by Dan Van Veen // AG News

A woman known by her friends and family to be gracious and loving, Jewel Wood, 87, widow of former General Superintendent George O. Wood, entered into the presence of Christ on Monday, March 23, 2026, following an extended illness.

Born November 11, 1938, in Greenville, Alabama, to Gemini Waite and Dorothy McQueen Waite, Jewel had two younger identical-twin sisters, Dorothy “Dot” (McHaffie) and Gemina “Jimmie” (Swanner). Her mom died in December 1940 when Jewel was two years old, and the twins were two weeks old.

Jewel’s father was a Pentecostal lay preacher and worship leader. Music was seen as an important part of ministry, so he taught his daughters to play musical instruments—Jewel learned to play the piano, organ, and accordion.

MULTI ETHNIC CHURCHES:
THE NEXT STEP BEYOND DIVERSITY

by Mark DeYmaz // Outreach Magazine

Martin Luther King Jr. once said that 11 o’clock on Sunday morning was the “most segregated hour of America.” At the turn of the twenty-first century, when Michael O. Emerson and Christian Smith published their seminal work Divided by Faith, only 6% of U.S. congregations were considered multiracial—no one racial group comprising more than 80% of the whole.

So, in 2006, when the Mosaix Global Network first championed the vision of seeing 20% of churches become multiethnic by 2020, it sounded audacious and naive. How could centuries of racial separation inside the American church possibly give way to such dramatic change in just two decades?

But it did.

COMMISSION MEETING

NEXT STEPS AFTER MEETING IN DC

by NextGen Commission Chairperson, Andy Gabruch

DiscipleSHIFT: A Collaboration Discussion on Modern-day Modes of Disciple Making and Leadership Shifts in Younger Generations

As the PCCNA Next Generation Commission met in Washington, DC, on February 18, 2026, the majority of the meeting focused on determining the discipleship and leadership shifts for younger generations.

Shift One: A move from programmatic to relational modes of disciple-making—this included a shift toward collaboration, inviting younger generations to dialogue and discuss how to be modern-day followers of Jesus rather than relying on monologue or preaching-based models of formation. Of course, a blend of both can work well.

Shift Two: Younger generations are open to God and searching for a genuine faith in a hyper-secular, personalized world—the over-promise and under-delivery of modern-day secularism and pluralism have led younger generations to seek genuine transcendence in the church. That said, younger generations have a limited reference point or sense of centeredness when it comes to the Christian faith; hence, the imperative importance of intentional modes of disciple-making to support a generation in continually encountering an authentic, real faith in the midst of a secular world.
