THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT
by Carol Leake, PCCNA Prayer
Commission Chairperson
At the Reunion conference in February, our PCCNA Prayer Commission was asked to discuss the Greatest Commandment—to love God and love others. We sought to understand how to pray and conduct our lives regarding the command that our Lord said: “summed up all the law and prophets.” After discussing this together, a summary was presented in the general session. Please allow me to share some of our meditations.

VISION INSPIRES THE CREATION OF AG WORLD PRAYER CENTER
More than 30 years ago, Assistant General Superintendent Rick DuBose received a vision that has impacted his prayer life ever since and has also inspired the creation of the Assemblies of God World Prayer Center in Springfield, Missouri. DuBose says that in his study of the Bible, he noticed that in Mark 9:28–29, where the disciples couldn’t cast an evil spirit out of a boy, Jesus says it was only by prayer that “this kind” of spirit could be cast out. He notes that in Greek, the word Jesus used for prayer sometimes refers to a place of prayer, a prayer group, an altar, or a meeting place.

CHOOSE YOUR HARD
by Chris Beaird
When my husband, Jim, and I had children, we vowed we would do everything right. We had fairly normal upbringings, but they lacked the emotional awareness that we wanted our children to have. We devoured everything we could from Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family; we even attended his last in-person conference in Colorado Springs in 1977. We set our expectations high to be the perfect parents as well as the perfect pastors. We all know that perfect pastors must have perfect children! Wow, what pressure! In my book, There Had Better Be a Corner, I describe the process I went through in dealing with depression and anxiety, especially in the childrearing stages. The pressure finally got the best of me and became debilitating. Making that first appointment to engage in counseling was a big step for me. However, it began the process of unraveling the lies I had believed about myself from childhood and my self-imposed expectations. When our children were small, it was very important to me that bedtime was a special time for them. During our nightly ritual I would bathe them, then read to them, and then pray with them. As a stay-at-home mom, by the end of the day, the process of nurturing wore me out. I asked Jim to help me with it, but I was never satisfied with the way he did it. He just put them to bed and said prayers.

NEW NHCLC CHAPTER
WASHINGTON, DC
The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference confirmed the Evangelical Association of Hispanic Ministers as an official NHCLC chapter in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia Metropolitan (DMV) area, making the DMV the 26th NHCLC chapter in the U.S. The Evangelical Association of Hispanic Ministers (AEMH) is the oldest clergy association in the DMV with more than 40 years in operation. The multicultural alliance of ministers operates as the bridge between the Church of Jesus Christ and the surrounding cities. More than 300 pastors and leaders from the region attended the ground-breaking event, where Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, President of the NHCLC, declared a prophetic word over the region: “It’s time for the Hispanic Evangelical church to transition from pushing the proverbial plow to carrying the prophetic mantle.”

OPEN BIBLE // UKRAINE
RELIEF UPDATE
Open Bible Churches has 40 churches in Ukraine and an extension discipleship and leadership training program that reaches hundreds of people beyond Open Bible. Our Ukrainian leader, along with others, has worked in Poland to assist refugees, with financial assistance from the U.S. He has now relocated to Ukraine and is overseeing ministry and relief to people in that nation. We are thankful that Open Bible people in the USA are stepping up and responding with prayer and contributions. We call upon the Lord for Ukraine. We also pray for Vladimir Putin, that the Lord will either change his heart—or stop him.
