PCPBA Mentorship Program

Deadline: 10.20.23

The Law Student Mentorship Program Applications are now available!!

Sign up to be a Mentor/Mentee

Our goal for this program is to provide law students the opportunity to gain insight into the legal profession from an experienced attorney who practices in an area of interest, and/or shares similar personal experiences with the law student mentee. In order for our program to be successful, we are in need of attorney volunteers to serve as mentors. In an effort to reach as many students as possible, we are in search of attorney volunteers in all practice areas/backgrounds. We aim to foster long-term relationships among the mentors and mentees within the program, and we would like to extend the opportunity to attorneys and judges within the area to pay it forward to the next generation of lawyers.

Students attending Florida A&M University College of Law and Barry University School of Law (including recent graduates) are encouraged to complete the mentee application.

The application for Mentors can be located HERE.

The application for Mentees can be located HERE.

Volunteer Opportunity: Legal Mentors for UCF Students

The UCF Legal Studies Department is seeking mentors for their students. The students are required to take a course on professionalism before doing an internship in the community. In the course, they learn skills such as interacting with the public, speaking to professionals, and overall, just putting their best foot forward.  To accomplish this goal, they pair a student with a legal mentor who provides input on the student’s resume and conducts a mock interview with a student.

Volunteers are needed to help with those 2 interactions:

· A mentor provides input on the student's resume

o Feedback can be provided via e-mail or telephone

o Approximate time for completion is 30 minutes

o Feedback occurs in October

· A mentor conducts a "mock interview" for a legal assistant position with the student

o Mock interview occurs via telephone or video conference (e.g., Zoom)

o UCF provides "job description" for legal assistant position

o Approximate time for completion is 30-45 minutes

o Interview takes place in November

If this is something you are interested in, please sign up HERE. If you have questions, you are also welcome to call Professionalism Ambassador, Faculty Member Christy Foley, at 407-739-8258.
