Florence Shelter &
Carolina Transports
PCR is making a conscious effort to ensure that our constituents have a better understanding of what goes on day-to-day at our rescue. "Transports" is the term we use when bringing in animals from our shelter partners.
This weekend we will have three separate transports: two from South Carolina and one from North Carolina.

At the end of January, a team from PCR will be making a trip down to the Florence Area Humane Society. The staff and volunteers at FAHS are so grateful for all of our help, and they are excited to meet PCR folks in person. Please stay tuned for more information on this trip as we plan to do some Facebook Live segments (and will most likely be asking for fosters to assist with some animals that we would like to bring back up with us).
Contributor's Corner
Each month, PCR will highlight a person or group that has made a difference to our organization.
Link Strategic staff Jevin Hodge, Maya Warburg, Sheena Pegarido, Gabo Lemos, Caroline Potolicchio and Michael Akin at Muddy Paws Farm.

This month, we are highlighting
Link Strategic Partnersa national strategic communications firm.
President, Michael Akin, and his capable team are donating their time and talents to help PCR better communicate its mission and core values to the community.

Specifically, they are assisting us with the creation of new brochures, new digital graphics and new social media ideas. The Link team has twice traveled out to Muddy Paws to see firsthand what we're all about. We are so grateful for their insight and guidance in telling the world just
how amazing PCR is.

Thank you, Michael Akin and Link Strategic Partners!

Our Four-Legged Focus in 2017

We are so proud of everything that the  PetConnect Rescue family accomplished in 2016! None of it would have been possible without the amazing contributions of our volunteers & supporters, and for that, we send a very big thank you!

Jingle
Jingle - Adopted!
Your kindness enabled us to find loving forever homes for 215 cats, like Jingle (pictured to left), and 582 dogs!

In 2016, we focused
on improving our communication, increasing our volunteer engagement and social media following, and organizing and participating in more large - and small - fundraising events than ever before. PetConnect Rescue partnered with Michael Akin & his Link Strategic Partners team for guidance on our marketing and PR initiatives, and we are incredibly grateful for their invaluable support!

Once again, we received generous donations from animal lovers Yu Darvish of the Texas Rangers and Honorary Board Member, Greta Van Susteren, who helped us end our year with her donation matching challenge on Facebook.

On behalf of the board, thank you to everyone who generously gave their time and dedication to helping animals in need and making 2016 a success!

In 2017, Social Media will continue to be an area of focus as we strive to grow our PetConnect Rescue family, provide community education and raise awareness of animals that need our help.
We  will have an internal team of volunteers
Bambi - Adopted!
dedicated  specifically to helping senior dogs, like Bambi (who was featured in our Holiday Appeal and later adopted), find their loving,  forever homes. We are also looking at ways to simplify and enhance our adoption process. Our website will receive a makeover to improve the user experience and streamline navigation. Link Strategic Partners will provide recommendations as we update our PetConnect Rescue brochure. We will continue to support our volunteers through internal training and frequent e-mail communications. We will host more fundraisers, including March Muttness, which is approaching quickly, and will take place on March 18th at 7Locks Brewery in Rockville (we'd love to see you there and will share more details soon).

We hope that in 2017 you will continue to read our weekly volunteer newsletter and PCR News, which include information on upcoming adoption events, volunteer needs, and other relevant news. Thank you for all you do to get PetConnect dogs and cats one step closer to home, and we look forward to what we will be able to accomplish together in the year ahead!

Fondly,
Katie Buckner - President, PCR Board of Directors
Catherine Edwards - PCR Executuve Director
