Dear Provets & Providence Families,
Welcome to the start of an incredible new school year! As we open our doors for another year of growth, learning, and connection, I am filled with immense gratitude for the growth in my first year as principal. I am eager and excited for what lies ahead.
This year is particularly special as we celebrate our Providence Catholic School’s 75th Anniversary! A milestone like this allows us to honor our rich history while boldly shaping our future. As a school dedicated to empowering young women, we know that an all-girls education at Providence is uniquely transformative. Here, girls occupy every leadership role, learn to speak with confidence, and pursue excellence without limitations. To guide our efforts this milestone year, our focus is anchored in three core pillars that bring our legacy to life: Driven by Excellence, United in Community, and Active in Service.
Driven by Excellence
Excellence is not a static achievement; it is a continuous pursuit. This year, we are strategically focused on challenging the status quo and elevating our academic outcomes, specifically targeting academic achievement. Guided by our core values of excellence and integrity, we will be diving deep into data-driven instruction, refining our curriculum, and ensuring every student has the targeted support she needs to thrive. We are moving past "the way things have always been done" to embrace innovative, effective strategies that unlock our students' full potential, proving what young women can achieve when they are held to the highest standards.
United in Community
Rooted in our call to justice, a true community is one where everyone feels a profound sense of belonging. This year, rooted in our call to justice, we are intentionally creating space for all voices to be represented. To illustrate this, I often think of the “Curb Cut Effect." When sidewalks were first designed with cutouts in the curbs, it was a change explicitly pushed for by disability rights advocates to accommodate wheelchair users. However, once those curb cuts were made, they benefited everyone—parents with strollers, travelers with suitcases, and delivery workers pushing heavy loads. When we intentionally design our community to include and empower those who might otherwise be left out, everyone wins. At Providence, we are committed to looking closely at our own practices this year to ensure no Provet voice is sidelined, creating a sisterhood where every young woman is heard and valued.
Active in Service
A Providence education has always been about putting our faith into action. In honor of our 75th anniversary, we are launching a school-wide challenge: 75 Acts of Service for 75 Years. We want our students to understand that excellence and community are ultimately expressed through how we serve others. Whether through organized campus drives, class or team/group projects, or individual student initiatives, we aim to hit (and exceed!) this goal by the end of the year. We want our students to live out their faith in action, learning that excellence and community are ultimately expressed through how we serve others. If you know of another non-profit in need of support through service, please share your contact so that we can plan ahead.
Thank you for your continued partnership, trust, and dedication to Providence Catholic School. Together, anchored in faith and justice, there is nothing our Providence women cannot achieve.
Let’s make this 75th year our best one yet!
In Providence,
