I Thessalonians 5:12-24

But we appeal to you, brothers and sisters, to respect those who labor among you, and have charge of you in the Lord and admonish you; esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. And we urge you, beloved, to admonish the idlers, encourage the faint-hearted, help the weak, be patient with all of them. See that none of you repays evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to all. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise the words of prophets, but test everything; hold fast to what is good; abstain from every form of evil.
May the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do this.
Closing Prayer
Dear God, as we read your Word, challenge us to live our lives in ways Paul challenged the Christians in Thessalonia. Help us to encourage and support others, rejoice always, pray without ceasing and give thanks in all circumstances. It is easy to get discouraged during these pandemic days, so turn our complaints into thanks and help us to look beyond today to see you at work. Remind us that you can do all things through us, for Christ’s sake, we pray. Amen.

A youth run volunteer program needs YOUR help!

Ella Johnson, a Sophomore and PCW Member, has created a program called  Cookies Against Corona.  Through this program, she has provided hospitals with hundreds of bags of homemade cookies to be distributed to healthcare workers thanking them for their work and giving them faith that the community supports their tireless efforts.

Baggers and bakers are needed to help send hundreds more bags to hospitals on  Sunday, May 17th.

Being a bagger includes:
  • Be willing to have cookies dropped off at your house
  • Putting dropped off cookies into 100 bags (all materials provided)
  • Dropping off bags at an assigned location

Being a baker includes:
  • Baking 40 NUT FREE cookies of choice
  • Dropping them off at an assigned bagging house

In order to participate, you must have been quarantined for at least two weeks. This means if someone in your family is an essential worker and is still going to work, we are unable to let you be a baker or bagger.

Please reach out to  Ella Johnson  if you are able to bag or bake ASAP!
The Presbyterian Church in Westfield continues to burn as a light in the darkness as our community weathers this fearsome storm of illness. Our reach of care continues to extend far beyond our immediate borders. You can help us make a real impact in the lives of others by joining in our work through your time, your talents, and also in the fruits of your labors.
Please watch your email, our church website and Facebook page for updates on the ways in which you can worship at home!

We are so excited for worship using Facebook Live Sunday morning at 10am, as well, and we hope you can tune in!
