Speak Up and Speak Out When we say PD Active is "by and for" those affected by PD, we mean that your ideas inform our choices about programs, support groups and classes. The Adult Children of PwP (see article below) began with your suggestion. More recently, your responses to the Annual Survey provided good ideas about speakers and forum topics as well as other support groups. We count on your participation when we consider new directions or programs for PD Active and we thank you for your valuable contributions.

August Virtual Round Table The Human Motor Control and Neuromodulation Lab's Ongoing Clinical Trials Date: Tuesday, August 9 Time: 5:30pm – 7:00pm PT We are pleased to welcome research assistants from Helen Bronte-Stewart's Human Motor Control and Neuromodulation Lab, Stanford University. They will present on the field of Parkinson's research and discuss ongoing and recruitment of clinical trials at the Human Motor Control and Neuromodulation Lab, with an emphasis on the technology that enables their research.

Classes & Programs

PD Active’s Support Group for Adult Children of People with Parkinson’s This unique group meets monthly to provide valuable support and community for adult children of family members with PD. In 2020, the need for support for caring family members was brought to the attention of the PD Active board. After requests by some younger members and with the assistance of several community members, PD Active started a group for adult children of people with PD. The group is led by skilled facilitator Dr. Rachel Goldstone who notes, "It can be very challenging to have a parent with PD and it is so helpful to find a community of people who understand, and who can find creative ways to face the challenges. The highlights of the group are the deep moments of connection and the ability to laugh and find the joy and love amidst the pain." PD Active Launches Support Group in Spanish NEW! The first meeting of the Grupo de Conexion y Apoyo Mutuo will be held on Friday, August 26 at 11am on Zoom. Classes & Activities Updates New Schedule for PD Active Pickleball PD Pickleball meets at the following days and times: 1st Thursday of the month at 2:30pm  3rd Monday of the month at 3:30pm    Updated Meeting Time for Tai Chi Tai Chi with Otto Dittmer meets on Zoom 11am on Fridays.   For more information regarding pickleball and Tai Chi, please contact; programdirector@pdactive.org, (510) 479-6119. Dance for PD® at Berkeley Ballet Theater Time Change Beginning on Monday, August 8, in-person Dance for PD® classes at BBT will be held from12:30 – 1:45pm.
