Take Our Community Survey and Help Us Serve You Better
Knowing our community more deeply means serving our community more effectively. Please take ten minutes to complete our survey. It will help us better understand your needs, what's working, what could be improved, and where we may have gaps in our offerings.
We hope to discuss the survey at the upcoming Town Hall on June 8th, including sharing some summary data from early responses.

New Board President and Executive Committee
Chad Zucker, board member and YOPD group coordinator, has become the PD Active Board President by unanimous vote of the board. PD Active wishes to salute Mary Pat Boersma, the outgoing president, who led the board with devotion and determination over the last three years. She steadied the ship and worked with others on the board to move PD Active to become a vibrant organization serving our community.  We are grateful that Mary Pat will stay on the board.

PD Active is pleased to introduce the newly formed executive committee: Board President Chad Zucker
Treasurer Norm Frankel
Secretary Judith Lubman

Opportunity to Support the CA PD Registry
The California Parkinson’s Disease Registry was approved back in 2017 with funding from the state legislature. Version 1.0 of the registry is already collecting useful data. In order to continue the registry and enhance it, the legislature needs to approve $10 million in annual support. The state assembly has already approved this and very soon the assembly and the senate will be working toward an agreement on a final bill.

State Senator Nancy Skinner is on the committee that determines whether the $10 million will remain in the budget or not. If you wish to show support for the registry and the needed annual funding, you can contact Senator Skinner's office at (510) 286-1333 or senator.skinner@sen.ca.gov ASAP to express your support.

Join Our Mentoring Program
The PD Active Mentoring Program is a volunteer peer-mentoring program in the East Bay. The program directors link recently diagnosed people (and care partners) with a trained volunteer mentor, who has a few years of experience with PD, to help better meet the challenges of the disease. Being a mentor involves a commitment to have three conversations with a newcomer over about three months.

If you are recently diagnosed and interested in participating or were diagnosed a few years ago or more and interested in becoming a mentor, please review the Mentoring Program Newcomer Guide for program details and to sign-up.

Don't Forget to Carry Emergency Contact Info
Here is a handy guide for preparing emergency medical information. We urge all community members to prepare this information and keep it accessible and on your person at all times. Above all keep the name of the person to contact with your health care card.

If you have an iPhone you should fill out the   Health app that comes with the phone. This app can be used in emergency even if the phone is locked.

If you have an Android phone, here are   instructions for adding emergency info to your lock screen.
