We Can Do It!

The National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act. (H.R. 8585/S.4851) is moving simultaneously through the House and Senate and must be passed by both chambers before going to the President for signature. We are striving to get this through the current (117th) Congress.

Take action now and call or email your Representative and Senators using this form. Ask friends and family to do the same. Current congressional co-sponsors are recorded here and Senate co-sponsors are recorded here. As you will see there is work to be done.

Kudos to Bay Area Rep. Mark DeSaulnier [D-CA-11] for his early support of this legislation.

Community Updates
Remembering John Argue, former PD Active Board Member and Parkinson’s Movement Instructor

John was a well-known specialist in PD and movement who contributed his considerable talent to the Parkinson's community. He taught a class in Berkeley for many years and his “Parkinson’s Disease & the Art of Moving,” as well as two companion DVDs continue to be valuable resources.

Anna Rabkin Remembers John Argue
I first heard about John Argue when my husband, Marty Rabkin became involved with PD Active in the early 2000s. John had developed his movement classes based on movement and voice that came from his years in theater. Marty valued John’s understanding of PD, and his commitment to the PD community. The two became friends, and when Marty stopped driving John always picked him up for class. When Marty died in 2013, I benefited from that friendship, John visited me every week for years. John was an interested, interesting, caring man whose classes, tapes and books helped people with PD not only here, but nationally and internationally. He is fondly remembered.
