School Improvement Plans are crucial tools in ensuring needs are being met when it comes to student success and engagement.


"Building a Common Purpose and Vision for the School Improvement Process" will equip participants with a step-by-step strategy to build a unified approach and mindset for the school improvement planning process. It also offers opportunities to: 


  • Learn to apply steps to review important documents, previous goals and outcomes, assess their progress, and use five fundamentals that inform the school community about the process
  • Map out a timeline and clarify how all constituencies in the school will be involved in the improvement planning process
  • Create meaningful professional development to support the plan

Looking for a way to ensure that time spent planning or collaborating in your group settings is efficient and purposeful? You may benefit from "protocols", or step-by-step guidelines that can structure professional conversations or learning experiences.


"Using Protocols to Guide Professional Learning Conversations" will help you learn how to use protocols to your advantage, including:


  • The value and types of protocols for different types of conversations
  • How to apply specific protocols for groups examining: a teacher's lesson or unit plans, students' work to address the learning and teaching, and a particular, concrete problem or issue from his/her classroom/professional life
  • How to apply the use of protocols in planning a meeting with a group of educators

The 2025 Raising Student Achievement Conference is set for December 8-9 in Oak Brook, Ill., and early bird registration rates are still available until this Friday, October 17.

CALL FOR PRESENTERS

Our annual countywide Institute Day is set for Friday, February 26, 2026, and we are currently accepting presentation proposals for multiple locations.

Our primary site will be the Q Center in St. Charles, where hundreds of educators will engage in a day of professional development and networking. The goal of each breakout session is to equip attendees with new ideas and strategies that can be used to enhance their instruction and students' engagement.

As part of Kane County Institute Day, this event is dedicated to visual arts, media, theatre, drama, and more. We invite fine arts educators that are interested in sharing their expertise with colleagues to submit your presentation proposal.
