A two-day Fundamentals of Lyophilization course
offered by the PDA Training and Research Institute.
April 29 & 30, 2025
Research Institute.
This training course provides an understanding of the basic principles and practical aspects of lyophilization. During this course you will learn about the critical lyophilization parameters (CPP) and the impact on the process and the products critical quality attributes (CQA). Sessions include in-depth discussions on solidification during freezing, sublimation in primary drying, and desorption during secondary drying. The application of principles to product and process development, analysis of product characteristics, and integrating the process into commercial manufacturing operations. Attendees will have a general overview and working knowledge for practical application in development, production, and evaluation of lyophilized parenterals.
Upon completion of this training course attendees will be able to:
1. Have insights into the fundamental concepts of the freeze-drying process
2. Demonstrate the basics involved in manufacturing freeze-dried products
3. Appreciate the complexities of freeze-drying, and the interrelationships of product
formulation, presentation and process parameters
4. Identify the relationship of the equipment and process
5. Identify recent developments in the science and technology
