Wonderstump Gallery & Venue Open

“It’s not a simple thing to describe,” said Kirsten Bjøre, WonderStump’s co-owner and chief creative officer. “WonderStump is part art gallery, part playground, part performance venue, & part other things we haven’t discovered yet. At its core, it’s a big immersive art exhibit you can engage with in a multi-sensory way."

Barber Cellars Reopens as Taste Petaluma

The Barber family’s three businesses come together this summer in a new downtown collective called Taste Petaluma. Opening will be July 1 and feature the Nightcap Dessert Bar and hand-crafted confections from local chocolatier Mad Chocolates.

Blanton's Boot and Hat Opening Soon

Blanton's Boot and Hat - a new ‘a luxury western wear experience’ - is opening soon in Petaluma. The inventory is a curated mix of men’s and women’s boots, outerwear, belts, jewelry, and hats that can be customized by the resident hat-maker.

Petaluma Riverfront Trestle Campaign Launch

A new community committee - Petaluma Trestle Promenade Now! - has been formed to push immediate action on the aging Petaluma railroad trestle. The Petaluma coalition is rallying community support for an ambitious effort to convert the city’s aging rail trestle into a 'beautiful and iconic riverfront promenade that invites all to enjoy our downtown river district."

Restored Baby Chicks Sign at Historic Hatchery

Petaluma’s freshly-restored “Baby Chicks” sign blazed to life again on June 14. It was the first time in decades that the iconic piece of Petaluma history was illuminated. The $22,000 sign restoration - funded entirely by private donations - was part of a months-long campaign to bring back the nostalgia-drenched former glory of the historic sign at the 100-year-old Poehlmann Hatchery building.

Spirit of Petaluma Beacon

The Rotary Club of Petaluma has commissioned internationally renowned local artist David Best to design the Spirit of Petaluma Beacon, a distinctive landmark that captures the spirit of Petaluma, at the southern gateway roundabout on Petaluma Blvd S. The team that will bring the project to life includes Van Bebber Brothers Steel, Sol Landscapes Inc, local engineers & architects, and many others.


The project was developed in partnership with the City of Petaluma, has completed design phase, & awaits official engineering review. Once approved, construction will take place late 2026 / early 2027.

Petaluma Approves $400m Budget for 2026-2027 Fiscal Year

Petaluma’s budget planning for the 2026-27 fiscal year beginning on July 1 calls for modest belt-tightening in the face of economic headwinds.

The $400.4 million budget was approved unanimously by Petaluma City Council and covers the city’s operating expenses and municipal improvements, such as road repairs, a new public safety building and a new skatepark in Lucchesi Park.
