MUST-SEE KEYNOTE SESSIONS BRING TOGETHER TOP MINDS to address some of the hottest topics in our industry.
 
The day one opening session, “Distinguishing the coulds from the shoulds,” will showcase an eclectic group of thought leaders who will shed light on current trends and opportunities with renewable energies. Presenters will discuss social expectations, new technologies, lessons from the logging and timber sector, and highlight the moral and ethical obligations the dairy industry faces while finding ways to maintain and improve our resources for future generations. Attendees will hear from:

  • Bruce Vincent, third-generation logger from Libby, Montana
  • Dr. Frank Mitloehner, PhD, professor and air quality extension specialist, Department of Animal Science, University of California-Davis
  • Dr. Richard Kyte, PhD, endowed professor and director of the D.B Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership at Viterbo University
  • Tom Thibodeau, distinguished professor of servant leadership and director of Master of Arts in Servant Leadership program at Viterbo University. 
THURSDAY GENERAL SESSION OFFERS BOLD ADVICE “Bold tactics for trends, markets and weather” will feature a dynamic trio of presenters for the day two general session. They will provide dairy producers with the information they need to stay a step ahead of the complex and changing tides of weather, markets and consumer perceptions. 

  • Eric Snodgrass, principal atmospheric scientist at Nutrien Ag Solutions
  • Charlie Arnot, CEO of the Center for Food Integrity
  • Dr. Marin Bozic, PhD, assistant professor, Department of Applied Economics at University of Minnesota and Associate Director of Midwest Dairy Foods Research Center
LEARNING LOUNGES DELIVER BIG IDEAS IN 30 MINUTES. Led by world-class experts, the Learning Lounge sessions will be presented within the Hall of Ideas for 30 minutes each. Topics include carbon market contracts, strengthening a team’s business culture, transition-cow research, administering life-saving practices on the farm and more. Ten sessions are scheduled across the two-day conference. 
SNEAK PEEK AT GROUND-BREAKING RESEARCH. Also in the Hall of Ideas, the Preview Stage highlights the work of UW researchers and their graduate-degree students, including those funded by the Dairy Innovation Hub. Their 30-minute sessions will offer attendees an opportunity to learn the latest findings in ongoing research and better understand the implications for dairy. These sessions will present the latest findings in animal health, nutrition and other key topics. 
VOTING WILL OPEN ON-SITE FOR 2022 PDPW BOARD CANDIDATES. The election of our Board of Directors is critical to our dairy producer-led organization’s success. Five candidates are on the ballot, and three dairy producer members will be elected to seats on the 2022-23 PDPW Board of Directors. PDPW bylaws allow one vote per dairy farm membership. The PDPW board of directors has three available positions for 2020-21, each PDPW dairy farm member can vote for as many as three candidates.

REGISTER TODAY FOR LEVEL 3. This multi-level course provides the tools and resources necessary to take the financial management of your dairy business to the next level. Level three is the most advanced level and is led by farm management and financial expert Dick Wittman. The program provides participants with a deeper understanding of their specific financial situation and teaches strategies for managing capital investments, family business investments, governance and more. Stride: Youth Leadership for Teens

TAKE LEADERSHIP SKILLS TO THE NEXT LEVEL in this fast-paced, interactive single day-program for high school students ages 15 to 18. Youth trainer and coach Hans Gochenaur will lead the session set for Sat., April 2, at Kalahari Resorts. The program is filled with team exercises and group challenges to equip young people with techniques to develop their abilities and expand their capabilities as a leader. Additionally, a mini career fair will showcase a range of career options and technologies.
