Empower to consolidate State ORP accounts

When State ORP accounts migrated from the MassMutual recordkeeping platform to the Empower platform in September 2022, some participants were assigned multiple account IDs. Participants most likely have multiple account IDs because they were employed by more than one State ORP participating employer prior to the migration to the Empower platform, and participation under each employer was recorded under a separate account ID on the MassMutual platform.


As a reminder, Empower is consolidating the accounts into a single primary account beginning July 26, 2023. Please refer to the July 11 PEBA Update for more information.

Join the Employer Advisory Group


Jennifer Dolder, director of Employer Services, will host the July Employer Advisory Group meeting highlighting important insurance and retirement topics. Join her Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 10 a.m. The meeting will last one hour, and no registration is required. Simply join the call before 10 a.m.

Handbooks for optional employers and charter schools


As a participating optional employer or charter school under the state insurance benefits program administered by PEBA, your employer type has different requirements and conditions for participation. To help you understand these requirements and conditions, the Optional Employer Handbook and Charter School Handbook are available online. Each handbook provides information about the state insurance benefits program and the requirements and conditions for participation, along with frequently asked questions.


It is important to routinely review your handbook and share this information with your entity’s administrators and elected officials to make sure they are aware of the requirements and conditions that govern your entity’s participation. Updates to the handbooks were made earlier this month.
