Community Happenings
The latest regarding Cocheco Arts Festival

Given the situation surrounding COVID-19, the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce is adapting to bring the arts to downtown in a safe and enjoyable format. We are hard at work planning for a drive-in festival for August, 14, 15, and 16.

We will kick off the weekend at St. John's United Methodist Church with a Friday movie night showing a local short film as well as a commercial movie. On Saturday, we will have kids performances in the morning followed by headlining performances that night, both held at the church. We will wrap up the weekend on Sunday showcasing the visual arts at the Seacoast Growers Farmers Market in upper Henry Law Park.

Dover Fire Chief Paul Haas today announces the availability of COVID-19 testing for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities who reside at the Dover Housing Authority. Testing is voluntary and free of charge.

Free Fabric Mask Distribution 

St Thomas' Episcopal Church (and local coastal NH Mask Makers) will be distributing Free fabric masks to anyone in the community on Saturday, July 11 from 10 a.m. to noon. Please drive through the church's parking lot at 5 Hale Street during that time. If you can not make it to the drive, please contact Judi Turner at to request free masks.
Triggered? Understanding Stress -- and how to relax

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital will host 'Triggered? Understanding Stress – and how to relax', a virtual community education event, on Wednesday, July 15, at 6:00 p.m. The event will be led by Dr. Nancy Blatt, a board-certified family medicine specialist with the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Center for Women’s Health & Wellness.  
Dr. Nancy Blatt will focus this webinar on understanding the impact stress has on the body, as well as sharing information about The Relaxation Response. The session will end with a short exercise to evoke the Relaxation Response.

3rd Annual (Virtual) Motorcycle Ride!

Join the Monarch School of New England for its 3rd Annual Motorcycle Ride, which will be a virtual ride this year. Ride anytime on Saturday July 18th, or Sunday July 19th 2020.In place of gathering at the school, you pick where you want to ride, your destination, and the distance. Registration is $20, and that gets you entered to win raffle prizes.

The Woodman Museum is offering five 90-minute tours per day Wednesday-Sunday, at 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm to allow for cleaning between tours. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will only be one tour offered per time slot, and no more than 10 people per tour.

The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire’s annual car raffle fundraiser happens every spring. 725 tickets are available for purchase here online and tickets are on sale for only $100 (Only 332 have been purchased!). The winner will get to choose between a black 2020 Nissan 370Z coupe (MSRP $35,215) or a metallic grey, 2020 Nissan Leaf S model 100% electric car (MSRP $34,610) OR $20,000 cash.

Historic Walking Tours: Summer 2020

The Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce will offer its Historic Walking Tours on a limited basis throughout the summer of 2020. There will not be a set schedule; rather, tours will be conducted by request depending on the availability of our volunteer tour guides. The three tours offered include Downtown Walking Tour, Pine Hill Cemetery Tour, and Historic Homes Architectural Tour.
Group size will be limited to no more than 10 and participants will be required to wear masks. Participants will also be encouraged to bring their own water, wear comfortable shoes, and wear a head covering. Tours run about 90 minutes long.
