PEEK at the Week: April 16
Dr. Louis W. Flanders served as the first president of the Dover Chamber of Commerce when it was formed in 1920. In 1928 his collection of stories,  Minister's son and the sign of fidelity , was published by G. J. Foster & Co. The Bulletin of the New Hampshire Public Libraries' description of the book reads, "The first story treats of student life in a medical college of 50 years ago where one Lawrence Harkins, the son of the village parson, toils in the classroom, breaks into society, and finally marries Reba, the girl from home. The second is a love story of the anti-Masonic days of 1835, of special interest to Masons today. Neither is a full-grown novel, but both are expanded much beyond the usual short story. A few rare copies of Dr. Flanders' book are available on the internet.

For more historical content, check out the Chamber's Instagram and Facebook . Peek into the Past is a special section running in PEEK this year to signify the 100th anniversary of the Chamber.
