Local Media Matters
During these difficult times the long-term viability of our local media is at risk. Now more than ever we need local journalists keeping Seacoast area residents informed about stories affecting the Seacoast of New Hampshire.
People are consuming more online news than ever before. Despite this, all of our media outlets--radio, print, broadcast--have experienced significant decreases in advertising spending.
Local businesses rely on their announcements being published and national publications turn to solid local journalism for stories to keep the public informed. Nothing can take the place of on-the-ground reporting of facts.
Senator Jeanne Shaheen also expressed her desire to support local media in an April 8 media release. She was one of a number of senators who called on Senate leadership to include funding to support local journalism and media in future COVID-19 relief packages.
