There's always something good happening at PEI Kids! We have exciting news for you this month.
24th Annual Dinner and Auction has Gone Live!

On Friday, April 17, PEI Kids will host its 24th Annual Dinner & Auction at Greenacres Country Club in Lawrenceville, NJ. Our theme for this year's event is "Spring forward" commemorating the momentum we have built in our 30 years of service to the Mercer County community. This is one of our biggest events of the year, attracting over 200 attendees for a festive night of celebration!

We are seeking volunteers to assist in planning the event, as well as donations of auction items. If you are interested in donating an auction item or joining the Dinner & Auction Planning Committee please contact Jesse Elliot at jelliot@peikids.org. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased on our website. Join us for this gala event, commemorating 30 years of commitment to our mission of promoting and maintaining a safe environment for all children.

Mother and Daughter Group Creates New Memories

Our Crisis Intervention program provides therapeutic counseling for child victims of sexual abuse as well as other necessary services to support child victims and their families. A core component of the program is the Mother/Daughter Support Group which consists of past and present clients and their mothers and maternal figures. These weekly support group meetings help members heal, cope, benefit from peer support, and improve the bonds between daughters and their maternal figures, while creating positive new memories through events and activities sponsored by our partners.

In the fall, Arbonne Charitable Foundation sponsored "An Evening of Beauty" which included a team of Arbonne Angels who provided makeovers, manicures, self-esteem journals, and product gift bags for participants. Our most recent activity, consisted of a group outing to the Hamilton AMC Theater on February 18th to see the film, Black and White. Thanks to a donation of 100 theater tickets by AMC Theaters' philanthropic foundation, AMC Cares/Tulsa Community Foundation, participants in the Mother/Daughter Support Group had an enjoyable experience at the theater, with one participant commenting, "I really enjoyed the movie a lot. My daughter would have never picked it, but she was very happy with it. We laughed, we cried and it was fun."

Dr. Juanita Johnson-Brooks, Director of Clinical Services says "group events like this help the healing cycle progress for many of our clients as they bond and enjoy each other's company."  For more information on our Crisis Intervention for Child Victims of Sexual Abuse program, please visit our website or contact Dr. Juanita Johnson-Brooks at jbrooks@peikids.org.
