Electrification & Heat Pumps

Non-members are welcome to attend at no cost, but there will be a nominal charge if a PDH certificate is desired. 

Program Abstract:  Electrification & Heat Pumps

This discussion will familiarize attendees with the basic concepts of de-carbonization via electrification for heating and cooling buildings. Technologies that facilitate electrification will be presented for basic high level understanding. Heat pump and heat recovery equipment will be explained. To conclude, new residential incentives will be discussed along with electrification in the residential sector.

Speakers: Dan Gentry Applications Engineer, Trane Technologies (La Crosse, WI) and 

David Strasser – Equipment Sales Team Leader, Trane (Portland, OR)

Bio:  

Dan Gentry is currently specializing in electrification. He joined Trane in 2018 after 8 years at another local WI based chiller manufacturer. Dan first interned at Trane in the acoustic lab while attending school. His areas of expertise revolve around chiller plants, heat recovery and heat pump systems and their reliable and efficient design and operation. He graduated from Ferris State University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in HVAC Engineering Technology and is an active member of ASHRAE. Dan enjoys spending time with his family on the river and relaxing time at the family cabin up north.

David Strasser is the Equipment Sales Team Leader in Oregon. He is an OSU alumni with a chemical engineering degree who has worked for Trane supporting engineers and contractors in the industrial and commercial sectors since 2006. David enjoys Oregon’s great year round outdoor activities.
