School Expectations for Recess Play & Student Conduct
As we approach Spring Break, we have noticed that there has been an increase in physical interaction between students during recess, and we are seeking your partnership to reduce potentially inappropriate behaviors. We do not believe that the interactions we are seeing are intended to be harmful or malicious, but we’d like to encourage positive social interactions while ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
Our Student Handbook outlines expectations for student conduct, including appropriate physical interactions during school activities. You can find more information about these practices on our website.
To support these guidelines, we ask for your assistance in the following ways:
- Discuss Appropriate Physical Interactions: Talk with your child about what types of physical contact are acceptable during play, emphasizing respect for personal boundaries.
- Encourage Open Communication: Encourage your child to express their comfort levels and to speak up if they feel uncomfortable with any physical interactions. They can always go to a trusted adult at school for support.
- Reinforce School Policies: Review and discuss the school's expectations regarding student conduct as outlined in the Student Handbook, ensuring your child understands the importance of these guidelines.
By working together, we can create a safe and respectful environment that promotes positive interactions among all students.
Additionally, if there are community members using the playground after school, you cannot allow you to come into the school to use the bathroom. This is a security issue, as there is often after school programming and Kids Place using the space.

5th Grade PYP Exhibition at Peter Hobart
The PYP Exhibition is a meaningful and exciting experience for our fifth graders at Peter Hobart, marking the culmination of their journey in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).
Throughout the Exhibition process, students work together to explore real-world topics they are passionate about. They ask thoughtful questions, conduct in-depth research, and take meaningful action. The experience ends with students sharing their learning with families and the school community—a celebration of who they’ve become as IB learners: curious, caring, knowledgeable, and ready to make a positive impact on the world.
Mark your calendars!
The 5th Grade PYP Exhibition at Peter Hobart will be held on Wednesday, May 28th.

Strategic Plan Focus Groups

PINK Consulting, LLC invites Black, Asian, and Indigenous families to participate in a confidential focus group to share how the last strategic plan—centered on racial equity—impacted you and your student(s).
