5th Grade PYP Exhibition at Peter Hobart

The PYP Exhibition is a meaningful and exciting experience for our fifth graders at Peter Hobart, marking the culmination of their journey in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Throughout the Exhibition process, students work together to explore real-world topics they are passionate about. They ask thoughtful questions, conduct in-depth research, and take meaningful action. The experience ends with students sharing their learning with families and the school community—a celebration of who they’ve become as IB learners: curious, caring, knowledgeable, and ready to make a positive impact on the world.

Mark your calendars!

The 5th Grade PYP Exhibition at Peter Hobart will be held on Wednesday, May 28th.

Peter Hobart and St Louis Park Public Schools partners with Relate Counseling to bring services to your students. The following message is from Relate Counseling:

~

Relate has a new offering, Healthy Minds this summer. See these details:

  • WHAT: Healthy Minds is a brief individual therapy model designed to help children and adolescents increase their ability to manage stress and learn coping strategies. This intervention is a short-term "burst" of service.
  • WHO: may be a helpful offering for those students who meet consistently with school social workers and/or support staff throughout the school year and would benefit from continued connection. This intervention may also be appropriate for students attending summer programming who need support.
  • WHEN: We are happy to accept referrals now to begin the short-term intervention in the summer.
  • REFERRALS: We will accept referrals for Healthy Minds from both school-year support staff as well as Community Education staff and parents. Like Relate's co-located therapy offered during the school year, this intervention is billable to insurance and has a formal referral process. The difference is that it is short-term, and parents complete the referral themselves to begin the process.
  • HOW: I have attached a flyer that includes a description and referral link/QR code for parents interested.

We look forward to continuing our partnership in helping your students thrive,

Principal Monson recently met with Park Nicollet to help each other gain more insight on the sleep habits of elementary age children. Below are some resources that Park Nicollet would love to share with the Peter Hobart Community:

The Peter Hobart Staff would like to pass on some information from the Grief Club of Minnesota:

~

At The Grief Club of Minnesota, we believe in the power of community to bring comfort and healing to those navigating the death of a loved one. This spring/summer, we are offering additional support for grieving children, teens, young adults and their parents/caregivers. We invite you to be part of the healing by sharing these resources within your community. Registration is now open on our website under What We Offer and Events: The Grief Club of Minnesota.

Some of our offerings include:

Summer at The Grief Club: A Season of Healing, Making Memories & Connections

We’re bringing back our impactful and fun All Star Gathering Camp for kids and teens, along with Pizza With A Purpose for families. In response to community requests, we’ve expanded our offerings to include even more age-appropriate opportunities for connection and support. Many families are registering their kids for the All-Star Gathering, along with the age-specific group, making it a once-a-month session in June, July, and August. Thanks to our generous donors and sponsors all services are provided free of charge to participants. Navigating Finances While Parenting Through Grief Seminar

The death of a spouse or partner comes with many challenges, including managing finances while raising a family. On April 22, we are hosting a special presentation designed to help young widows and widowers build financial confidence. This educational event will cover important topics with time for Q&A, offering practical tools and compassionate guidance.  Link: https://griefclubmn.org/events/empowering-young-widows-and-widowers-with-financial-confidence/

On a different note, we welcome you to mark your calendars for our annual Healing Hearts Soiree on September 18, 2025. While it’s our largest fundraiser of the year, it’s much more than that, it’s a powerful gathering of caring community members who come together to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those with hurting hearts. It’s an evening you won’t forget, filled with inspiring stories, live music and opportunities to support grieving families. We would love to have you be part of it. We are currently seeking sponsorships and donations of live auction and raffle items. If you or your organization is interested in contributing or learning more, please reach out. It truly takes all of us, working together, to ensure grieving families receive the support they need.

Lastly, as a reminder, The Grief Club of Minnesota is a unique 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a healing space where grieving children, teens, young adults, and their caregivers can find connection, share experiences, and heal. All services are provided by skilled licensed mental health professionals at no cost to clients, we compassionately serve families across the state. Our comprehensive offerings include individual and family counseling, peer-based support groups, camps, special events, crisis support, and community education, all delivered in a peaceful, welcoming space. We support families who have experienced the death of a child aged 25 and under or families in which a parent has died, with children aged 25 and under, ensuring ongoing, high-quality care tailored to their unique needs.

Celebrating Volunteers

April is National Volunteer Month, and we’re so grateful for the amazing volunteers in our district! Volunteers are the heart of our community, making a powerful impact on students, teachers, and everyone they support. Their dedication helps create a lasting, positive change that echoes throughout our district. To celebrate National Volunteer Week (April 20–26), we’re hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast with delicious food, great company, and special giveaways, just a small thank you for all the work they do!

Strategic Plan Focus Groups

St. Louis Park Public Schools is building its next 5-year strategic plan (2025–2030), and we need your input to ensure it reflects the lived experiences of all families.

While we’ve received valuable input from many community members, we recognize the critical importance of including more perspectives from our Black, Asian, and Indigenous families.

PINK Consulting, LLC invites Black, Asian, and Indigenous families to participate in a confidential focus group to share how the last strategic plan—centered on racial equity—impacted you and your student(s).

Superintendent Dr. Carlondrea Hines Asks Our Students the Big Questions… with the Tiniest Mic

If you haven’t caught Dr. Hines’ tiny mic interviews yet, you’re missing out! 🎤 The series features candid moments and big insights from our students. Recently, Dr. Hines stopped by Junior Achievement, where 4th graders from Peter Hobart and SLP High School students ran a full-on mock city. Then on National Kindergarten Day, she visited Aquila Elementary to chat with our youngest learners.

Let’s just say—when the tiny mic’s out, the good times roll!
